The photos of the week: May 26 - June 1

Posted by Tom Ryaboi / June 1, 2012

on the streetcarThe photos of the week collect each of the editor-selected photos of the day into one post for a contest to be decided by our readers. Sponsored by Posterjack, the photographer whose image receives the most votes will be awarded with a voucher code for a 24"x36" poster print of their work.

All the rules and fine-print can be found in the original announcement post on the blogTO Flickr page. One thing to add, however, is that the voting period ends at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, after which the winner will be contacted with the good news.

For those photographers whose images are featured below, please feel free to give us a little information about your shot — i.e. where and when it was taken — in the comments section. Who knows? Maybe your description will sway voters in your favour!

Disappointed in not seeing any Gottardo here this week.

I took the photo of the streetcars, where I held my camera on the windowsill and dialed in a manual exposure of 1/2 second, timing my exposure to catch a passing streetcar coming down Spadina as well as the inside of the streetcar I was on. I love experimental photography, it's fun to do, even if the photos dont always turn out. I took a few different exposures but this was the keeper.

imperialis reigns this week, tho syncros did a terrific job on the streetcar. pics 5 and 6 suffer from too much processing.

Instagram and an iPhone are the ONLY tools any serious photographer needs. Anyone that tells you otherwise is a tool.

Phew. Luckily I stuck with film, given the processing critiques here ; )

Jonathan.
