The photos of week: March 3-9

Posted by Staff / March 9, 2012

TTC StairsThe photos of the week collect each of the editor-selected photos of the day into one post for a contest to be decided by our readers. Sponsored by Posterjack, the photographer whose image receives the most votes will be awarded with a voucher code for a 24"x36" poster print of their work.

All the rules and fine-print can be found in the original announcement post on the blogTO Flickr page. One thing to add, however, is that the voting period ends at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, after which the winner will be contacted with the good news.

For those photographers whose images are featured below, please feel free to give us a little information about your shot — i.e. where and when it was taken — in the comments section. Who knows? Maybe your description will sway voters in your favour! Lead photo by yedman.

Photo #3 seems to be getting no votes because it's missing...

Photo 3 was gobbled up by an html formatting error, which has now been fixed. I reset the voting for the poll at 10:00 a.m. to keep the competition fair.

Evidence and Neil Ta on Photo of the Week as usual. Maybe they should have a photo battle.

I actually liked #7. I enjoy seeing 'raw' street life at ground level.

I'm interested in seeing how much prizing they've won over time.

I took Photo #3 "Highway Traffic" from the bridge over The Gardiner on Grand Street this past Wednesday. It was such nice morning to be outside (it was already over 10C by 8am if I remember correctly) and as I looked at the gridlock in both directions I was thinking, "it's too nice a day to be stuck in traffic" and stopped to take a couple shots then continued on my way. It was a great day for a bike ride or a walk, though a little windy latter on.

Thanks for taking the time to give a bit of background, Mark. You've got some good stuff on your flickr account.

I'm Neil, the one who took #6. I just really liked the lines that played out looking down on that particular intersection. It almost looks like it's Photoshopped in there.

And just for the record, I think I had three Photos of the Day last year and two of them won Photo of the Week...both prizes were given away to people. The fate of this week's prize will probably be the same if I should win.
