Photos of Salsa on St. Clair 2011

Posted by Staff / July 11, 2011

Salsa St. ClairThis weekend's 7th annual Salsa on St. Clair drew thousands of people to St. Clair Avenue West which was closed to traffic between Christie and Winona as people filled the street. There were plenty of food vendors along the way, but the big attraction was the dancing. Bands and prerecorded music blared out from various street corner improvised ballrooms with cardboard floors and people danced, danced, and danced some more to the delight of the throngs of onlookers lining the street.

NEWSFLASH: Mayor Rob Ford showed up to this! I was sitting on DeSotos patio Saturday evening when we saw him walking along St. Clair towards the event. I guess Rob Ford hates gays but loves dancing... go figure. :/

He obviously expected it to be a food festival, he was wearing a hat made out of corn chips.

Went there on Saturday, is it just me or does Salsa seem like an excuse for over weight ugly men to grope women they would otherwise have zero chance with in real life?

This was the worst one yet!

Bands singing over top of music tracks even on the main stage. There are so many talented artists in Toronto, what happened?

This festival is dying fast, and it was embarrassing for Toronto, what a shame I love Salsa and the dancing.
