Posted by Tim / January 19, 2010

CityTV LayoffsThe axe fell at CityTV today. Sources tell us that on-air personalities Anne Mroczkowski and Lara DiBattista are gone as well as a number of writers, producers, editors and camera people. 35 full time staff in total. Multiple shows have been canceled.

The list we have so far includes:

Anne Mroczowski
Laura Di Battista
Pam Seatle
Marian Dimain
Merella Fernandez
Farah Nasser
Michael Serapio
2 graphics
4 producers
2 assignment producers
7 camera
6 editors
1 cg

We'll have more details here as we get them.

UPDATE 1

Lots of Twitter action on this one. Follow the conversation here. The best tweet has to go to the CTV PR department (see screenshot of retweet below) who I guess had second thoughts and subsequently deleted the tweet from their Twitter feed.
CTV PR

UPDATE 2

Also, the noon and 5pm news shows are gone as is some weekend news and City News International.

UPDATE 3

Leave it to Rogers to destroy anything they touch. They bring them over to the new digs and then do it "their way". Pretend to like what you have while secretly creating what the execs deem better. Is Sportsnet next?

The worst thing is that there's no need to decimate the newsroom - Rogers ain't exactly hurting for cash, although I'm sure this will be positioned as a "cost saving measure".

Rogers clearly has ZERO commitment to locally produced news programming. All the "good" reporters defected to CTV or Global ages ago. I guess this viewer will be as well.

Alison / January 19, 2010 at 2:05 PM

Seriously what they need to improve on is:
1. Up to date "news flashes" on the bottom of the screen - not new that is 2 days old
2. Much Music station (pathetic to say the least), and most of the shows they are producing (the dating show??, horrible). Cut out the commercials that Much produces in house and use "regular" commercials for the most part. Have only individual "tags" representing the station. Big $$$ savings here.

Is this another cash-grab from the "Promote local tv" by charging viewers an extra amount on their cable bill?

Doug / January 19, 2010 at 2:06 PM

Alison perhaps you should read up on the news and realize that CTV acquired Much Music some time ago. CityTV is owned by Rogers.. Completely different company. Also I'm pretty sure that Much doesn't produce any "commercials" in house. They produce "promos." Big difference.. One brings in ad revenue and the other promotes your own programming.

Goes to show it makes no difference in today's "journalism" world if you've been around for 2 or 20 years. Money talks. Sad too, because the CityTv team already recently had to deal with enough with the big move and all...

City TV has certainly lost my entire family as loyal viewers. Pam Seatle, Anne Mroczowski and Laura di Battista are class acts, and pretty much the only reason for watching the evening news on City. Chalk one up for the CBC.

Interesting... the official press release speaks to the "core business" and concentrating on shows that make money NOT shows that may inform or serve as a valuable resource for Torontonians.
http://ow.ly/YhA5
This is why the CRTC needs to pay attention to democracy and not the bottom line no matter how greased the palms may get! Corruption is endemic and dangerous to our future.

As much as CityTV may have, at times in the past, failed in its role to inform and educate, trumping gimmick over information, it was still a source of news for many low income citizens and new immigrants to this country. May I remind you wealthy white kids out there that our immigrants and working class are the backbone of all economies including ours so we would be remiss to alienate them.

City has gone downhill fast with Rogers but CTV will follow suit soon as well, it is the rapid concentration of ownership of OUR airwaves by private interests that is the root problem. Rogers has a fiduciary responsibility to its shareholders so they will trim and cut without any thought to the fabric of our city and their role in it.

Rogers will pay lip service to community but only serves the community of class A shareholders so it is up to us, those who lose representation, to stand up and take the media back.

Stop the cable giants from controlling what you think and when, support your local paper and get YOUR voice out on the web.

Jacob / January 19, 2010 at 2:22 PM
user-pic

I guess CP24 (ugh) is beating CityNews over the head with a big stick. Letting go of this many people probably means the planned CityNews Channel won't be happening.

As much as Rogers is to blame for what's happened to Citytv, CTV deserves equal blame.

Amanda / January 19, 2010 at 2:23 PM
user-pic

Maybe because her name is followed by the word "expert?" I feel as if these titles are super wishy washy nowadays. I know a new media expert -- a REAL new media expert -- and she likely still has a job because the bigwigs are starting to realize the value of online journalism and the affect that technology has on journalism itself. The unfortunate part is that it's at the expense of the journalists that were those gumshoe reporters, who did everything the long and hard way, knocking on doors and such, when Google wasn't available to get all the answers from. We lost some good ones today.

Jen C In replying to a comment from cmdr / January 19, 2010 at 2:29 PM

Yes, how Kris Reyes still has a job is a mystery. Her "new media" segments are a joke...news collection via Twitter.

Also find it interesting how Rogers/City boasted about their new state of the art news production facilities but have done everything possible to cut the quality of news programming. Shiny new digital video cameras and editing equipment, but no substantive content.

since blogto is covering local news just fine, why do we need city tv or cp24? how many stations do you really need to cover pedestrians getting hit by cars at yonge and bloor, or cats trapped on trees? huh? or rats running around in restaurants in chinatown? but if people want to pay for that.. then please send your cheques directly to these stations and tell them how much you like them

Mingo Jones / January 19, 2010 at 2:35 PM

I'll play devil's advocate and say that you can't put the entire blame on Rogers. It was Rogers who stepped in to buy the assets that CTV had to relinquish when CTV bought CHUM so if it wasn't for them CityTV would not have been saved. And like any business, they're allowed to make decisions that they think would improve their business. Their future ratings and competition will indicate if their decision is a good one.

There's enough blame to be given out to all the networks out there. And viewers' watching habits are changing as well. Nothing lasts forever and I wish all the people affected by the layoffs luck.

I wonder whether this has anything to do with the late-night shuffle and how CityTV all of a sudden had to find something to fill the 10-11 slot after Jay Leno's show failed. I mean, the money has to come from somewhere and instead of raking in ad revenues from Jay's show, they were looking at paying through the teeth for syndicated shows with questionable revenue outlook.

There were 3 people on this list who had it coming. They were getting paid very well to do very little for a long time because of Stephen Hurlbut (do a little google of his name to find out what kind of a guy he was to work for). They were in his circle of friends. Once Rogers came in and saw their paychecks and what they actually did for them, it was only a matter of time. None of them were very nice people BTW. Those of you in the industry know who they are. Those that don't, think of who on the list was at Citytv the longest... That's your 3.

Everyone else on this list is a shock! Fortunately, everyone else has talent so they will land on their feet (hopefully). Still a very sad day in Toronto TV land...

As sad as these layoffs are, they are not surprising -- CityTV has been in trouble for a while (one reason CTV wanted to buy CHUM was to revitalize the City brand), and Rogers has never been a particularly enthusiastic broadcaster. Sadly, it seems intent on turning City into a Global/CTV wannabe, losing just what made City interesting and vital.

Blame it on the executive. They had to build a TajMahal (the new CITY TV site)in an era when nobody is making money in TV. One exec in particular is probably petitioning the board to name the building after him.

So how do you recover 80 plus million dollars in capital. On the backs of the good people of course. Let's see, Marian's wages put against he building will pay it off (at no interest) in 133 years.

CTV didn't want to buy CHUM to "revitalize" Citytv. They were far, far more interested in CHUM's cable properties and the CHUM-City Building itself. Sure, they they would have preferred to keep Citytv instead of A, but they wasted no time stripping it of all its valuable properties and selling it for scrap to Rogers.

I agree strongly with Chris [2:19]

I don't subscribe to anything Rogers, but am concerned about the concentration of ownership of our airwaves.

Chris' link to CNW Group, headline: Citytv Restructures Television Operations To Improve Business and Better Serve Audiences.

My question is what audience and how does this better serve audiences. It's PR bullshpiel. It's all about the shareholders. The complete release is codswallop.

Don't believe it? Here's another juicy quote: "We believe in local television," commented Jamie Haggarty, EVP Television Operations, Rogers Media Television.

Papers are changing and tv is on it's last legs, really. Scram, Rogers

I'm sad for the individuals involved, but try as I might I cannot shed a tear for the institution as so many seem to be doing here. I can try to get worked up about local news, broadcast policy, telecommunications, CRTC, etc., etc., fine... but I use television for entertainment, not news (nor the slushy infotainment in between).

Hopefully these personalities can find a relatively soft landing somewhere else.

Reading these comments, I'm only just realizing how fuzzy my grip was on who owns what bits of the CityTV diaspora. Honestly, the only part of it that touches my life these days is probably CP24 -- and usually online, at that.

In the end, if this kind of crappy hack and slash serves to discredit whatever sensationalist, shallow, pefunctory, under-produced `journalism` content the remaining overworked staff will manage to put then all the better. We can move on to media better suited to important information and abandon TV to the dogs.

Farah Nasser was an eye candy !
Merella Fernandez was a good anchor, i am guessing there doing some 'ethnic' cleansing down at that station. Basically everyone, on the lay-off list have ethnic names coming from different nations around the world. Doesn't have the original Peters, Kent, Beverly, etc attached to their last names, like you would expect from other networks. I liked how City TV hired Indian/Pakistani people in the network, showing a different and an apparent side of the GTA, but i guess that's all over now !
However, the BIGGEST SHOCK was they were even letting Anne Mroczkowski and Lara DiBattista go as well. Which I believe were model anchor's, who stayed loyal with City TV, and eventually got stapped in the back. Very Sad !

Rogers is the ugliest and darkest thing to ever happen to Canada. I don't give a damn that old man Rogers kicked the bucket. He was a f*cking scrooge who would take candy from a baby if the old bastard had the chance.

This corporation of swine ruins everything it touches in the money. it treats its employees like it treats it's customers, just like a number.

Leave it up to Rogers to not only destroy the primetime lineup of Citytv with just airing US programming non-stop (hello, we have NBC, ABC for that), but destroy the last good thing left on Citytv, which was their news.

My guess is that since Citytv in Toronto only requires 14 hours of local programming, eventually the station will be gutted of their 6pm and 11pm newscasts.

I can't believe that a station in the largest market in Canada is not going to have any news presence on the weekend. What an utter joke!

The way Rogers is running this station, it will soon be on the same level as SUN TV.

I'm so sick of Rogers. I wanna switch my phone away from them (I'm on Fido, which was bought and nearly destroyed by Rogers years ago) real soon now.

Rogers doesn't care about loyalty or years of service. The City brand use to stand for community and local representation. Rogers acquired the brand to try and buy some of that brands established reputation.
Instead they have destroyed this brand, they already got rid of Peter Silverman, Amber Mac and now have gotten rid of other personalities with established local celebrity. At least CTV is investing in the CITY brands they kept in the deal.

With Ted Rogers gone, all Rogers has is a hired temp CEO who cares for nothing except for the bottom line. Why? The bigger the profit the higher their bonuses are. As far as employers go, Rogers is atrocious; I should know, I used to work for them in their publishing division. They laid off my entire department a few years ago. They have no sense of loyalty or responsibility to their long-time employees.

Rogers’ tactics are truly bizarre. I remember when Now Dead Ted entrusted his son, Not Yet Dead Ted Jr. with tracking down illegal satellite dishes in the name of justice. The real reason was to report illegal dishes around Toronto so Rogers could gain more business. The company spent a fortune on these idiotic “Dish Hunter” badges and paraphernalia, and left them on all employee desks – almost all soon found their way to the blue box. Then there was the week they send voice messages to all employees telling them to go to the cafeteria to “meet John Tory in person!” when he was running for mayor of Toronto. Although Tory, a former Rogers executive, lost the race, you would never know it from the not-so-subtle pressure to meet the man.

The Rogers mentality to solving a problem? Instead of fixing it, they throw more money at the problem. The only reason Rogers clings to Maclean's magazine and their entire publishing division is prestige. It seems Now Dead Ted wanted to "class up" the image of Rogers by adding magazines of prestige like Maclean's to the fold.

I remember hearing stories about Ted Rogers walking through Maclone's late at night when everyone else had left. I don't know if they were true or not, but I wouldn't be at all surprised. I think his ghost still haunts everyone it encounters, and bores them to death by repeating the same words over and over again: "My father invented the first vacuum radio tube!" Zzzzzzzzzz...

Having worked in more than a few television newsrooms for almost 20 years I have seen this a couple or more times. It hurts like hell when it happens to you and it feels like a death in the family when your co-workers have to get pushed out.

Rumour is though that Rogers is strategically positioning CITY TV so they can sell it off at a lower price and then they can then take a crack at the Global Television Network. Canwest's newspapers are already on the chopping block so the network is obviously next.

This is right out of the corporate handbook. Page 1 - Within 6 months of a company being bought out, there will be layoffs.

This is not about talent, just strictly dollars. Anne has been with the station for a while, and is clearly going to earn more than some of the newer staff. I am 100% positive that a directive was given to save X dollars. You do that by laying off 2 or 3 more junior staff or by letting Anne M go. It is not an easy decision.

Having worked for a company that was bought out (and has bought up others) this is exactly how it plays out every time. It is not about who is the most talented, or about who has been loyal, or who is a good/bad person... it is just about money.

As per CRTC requirements, a corporation cannot hold two broadcast licenses in the same market (Toronto), this is why it's theorized that by Rogers stripping CITY, they could make the price more attractive to sell off, then they would be legally able to bid on another nation-wide network.

We should support those who are left.

John Roberts and John Saunders were very smart people. They got a job with City Tv, and when the opportunity came they went to a better place to work. I believe they both have dual citizenship so it's easier for them to find work. I would encourage anybody to do the same as they did. Do some work here in Canada and when the opportunity arises bolt to the U.S.A if you find a job and then after 5 years get your American Passport

I agree. It's more than a few on-air windbags that got cut. There are many talented editors, shooters and producers who got the axe, and will have a very difficult time finding work in this economy.

Ask anyone in Radio. For years Rogers has hacked and slashed staff at its stations, making the few survivors do voice-tracking (pre-recorded shows) to fill the holes.

If you really want to send Rogers a message, cancel your cable and cellphone services with them. And tell them exactly why you're doing it.

Many people have trouble keeping up with the ownership changes of all of these properties/stations. The main problem is the lack of corporate variety/diversity.. there are only a tiny few who can afford to purchase/operate major media in Canada at this time. And the fact that Rogers and Bell both a) own television and b) then sell content to consumers through their cable-satellite packages only makes things more mirky and incestuous...

Not just City TV, but also Muchmusic, Showcase, tv in general, especially the American shows which unfortunately spills over here. Notice how this 90s-early 00s period was also the time when tv, media, mainstream/pop "culture" and society quickly began its (further) regression and continues to do so.

Whenever there's a change in ownership, a takeover of any organization, changes are guaranteed to happen. Usually the first changes are felt at the staff levels. I know because after a change of wonership, I along with many others, were laid off (let go) by one firm after 20 years of loyal and excellent service. The sad part is that a few years after we lost our jobs the new owners simply sold the sad remnants of what was once a triving company to another and even bigger company. The same thing will happen to CITYTV.

I cannot help but wonder; is this just the beginning and more changes are on the way. Why do you think Rogers CITYTV moved to Dundas Square?

Wow, really classy. That's a person you're talking about and a very talented and hard working one at that. One of the downsides to freedom of speech is that idiots like yourself are allowed to express their hateful opinions.

Also, let me just say that the layoffs affected BOTH male and female staff pretty evenly if you include everyone behind the scenes. The only reason it looks gender-biased is because City had more female anchors/reporters before the axe fell. This obviously compounded by the fact that over the last year Citytv has lost Richard Madan, Silverman and Jojo. By my count, the news room now has 10 female and 10 male broadcasters. That's including BT, Tracy on Cityline, Sangita and Jee who are on maternity leave and videographer Audra. Seems pretty even to me.

Please, do your research before you comment. A lot of families were hurt yesterday and gender didn't have a baring on the extent or depth of that hurt.

@Merv: "Sold it off"? Nope. Moses was fired. Without his vision and leadership, City deteriorated until it was a hollow, pointless shell. Rogers bought it because CTV was forced to sell it. Rogers degraded it further -- hardly surprising, since it's what they do. Now, it's a glorified version of some rotten cable access dead spot on the dial, only with less money and crummier production values. Fun while it lasted. Nothing lasts forever . . . except the low-grade craptacularity that typifies everything Rogers does. Triumph of the swill.

Take the blinders off.
You are living in a fantasy world if you dont think her handicap and Onley's history didnt factor into her staying put.
No one is debating the merits of her accomplishments in life, they are all well and good. Its great to see.
How that factors into anything to do with her talents as a reporter have nothing to do with her overcoming the odds.
From an outsiders perspective, watching her on the news, she is not a great on-air personality (case can be made for the majority of City's on-air people mind you). But unfortunately in this day and age you have to be the type of person people's short attention span want to see and hear. And shes not good for that.

Ray Kroc, founder of McDonalds said "Look after the customer and the business will take care of itself"

Rogers is trying to taking care of business. Trying to maintain the price per share by cutting costs. Unfortunately it comes at the cost of jobs and upsetting peoples lives. If Rogers took a page out of what Ray Kroc said, it wouldn't have to cut costs. So Rogers, stop trying to take care of business, counting beans or analyzing your finances. Look after the customer and focus on what makes the customer happy and deliver on that. The beans will magically appear without the need to count them.

There is ZERO consideration for community relations, affection of the public for individual on-air types, etc. For Rogers' idiocy CITY-TV, now in its Dundas Square digs, deserves the same fate as the building's previous owner/tenant...the Toronto Olympic Spirit.

I like what they did in Hamilton at CHCH TV, it a refreshing change from what we get from the likes of CTV, GLOBAL AND ROGERS just a flooding of US programing....they all suck!!!

Having worked on the inside of HR departments, when it comes to "laying-off" employees, it's a combination of their useful- (or useless) ness and their high salaries. Payroll is a company's biggest expense. Anne M made a ton of money, as did Laura and Pam I'm sure. Anne can retire comfortably and live way better than any of the rest of us will. I don't have much sympathy. She was a talking head. Reading off a teleprompter doesn't require any talent. As for the off-air people who lost their jobs....I sincerely hope you find new and better jobs very soon.

Rogers is an evil and greedy, vampire corporation, sucking all of us regular folk dry of our money. Their sole purpose is to get their fat-cat suits as much profit as possible. I just got mail from them the other day that they are cutting my internet usage allowance from 60GB to 25GB. And I still have to pay the same rate! How can they get away with this??? All they do is cut services and increase rates! I am tired of getting ripped off by Rogers. And it makes me even more mad that more people aren't getting pissed off too and doing something about this?

I hate Rogers Corporation and I hope their company fails. Even if this does happen their senior management will still be rich off of us...their pathetic customers.

P.S. I also hate Michael Kuss. When he waves his arms around when reporting on the weather...real annoying.

MADasHELL: it's not only Rogers, but Cogeco, Bell
They cut all services, yet raise prices
You sign up for so many channels, then they state they are taking away 10, yet you still pay the same for lessss channels

This is Canada
Canadians we whine, yet do nadda:(
Except for that March the other day......KUDOS to them

But otherwise we whine
If you look at other countries, they protest in the thousands
They believe in what they are protesting and get things done
Sure it may not be 'cable', but they DO picket for their rights

Rogers needs an ENEMMMMMMMMMMMA!
Fast!

In all the years Ted Rogers ran his empire HE NEVER laid off anyone...not a single employee!! He lead the company through 4 recessions and never gave a single layoff. As soon as his son takes over THE AXE falls. Rest in peace Ted....rest in peace.

Ive never laughed so hard till I came across this site. I was totally surprised when I heard the big names that got canned. Thats what brought me to this site. Someone posted a comment that 3 of the big long time tv personalities were not very nice thats fact. Stuck up cows but Gord Martineau is also an asshole if you do a search you will find outtakes where he uses slander and vulgarity towards his co-workers.

Personaly Id of fired that air bag Kuss. Why the ever got rid of Harold Hussein for the weather is beyond me. They brought in all this technical bs with all these weather stations. Totall bs. I want to know if its gonna snow how much end of story. Not temps for every part of GTA.

Pam should of been gone long ago. She's a great reporter but she was pregnant more often then a rabbit. No surprise they canned her.

Laura? LOL ugly thing should of been gone when they first gave her the medical specialist titlte lol. CityTV with all its specialists. Specially retared you mean?

As far as the complaints about too many women being axed? Get real most of staff are women.

LOL im surprised Ann Rhomer is still around. I like her though but shes old and has to go!

Anthony I agree 100 percent!! Thats the problem with the new breed of execs. They look at the bottom line and thats it. Thats why the economy is so screwed up. They have no vision for the future. They want everything that Daddy had without putting in the sacrifice and sweat that it took to get there. Behind every great entreprenuer theres a pot smoking punk son or daughter who was given everything in life and wants more!!

I still don't get why City TV is not reporting the lay-offs/firings I thought they were a news station? What are they afraid of, I think they had it on their site for a day or so and then it disappeared. Is this news we can depend on? I think Ann M. was a real classy lady and will miss her but I'm sure she will hook up somewhere soon. It's funny how the "the little station" that grew, grew into such a greedy bunch. They build a new office and then fire the people that brought them to that level. Oh well good luck and it's no surprise when companies start to get greedy and to hell with what the public wants. Now we can just change our loyalties and go elsewhere. After all this is a much better place to be right here! They did the same Marilyn from Chum FM when they cut her out of City Line, I didn't even watch it that often but think she was great, but I guess they were paying her too much.

Blah blah blah. We all know Dina is fluff. Thats her job. She hosts a morning show and was/is a pop cultre junky. Is she really a journalist? By all accounts not so much.
If you are looking for in-depth, hard hitting news at 7am turn to NewsWorld or CNN.
Otherwise take her for what she is; eye candy as you eat your cereal who's sole job is to entertain in a fun, upbeat manner.

You rather her be replaced by Marianne Dimain or Anne at 7am?
Ya lets see how chipper those two are in that time slot. You'll wish you never got out of bed. Anne M hosted the 6pm news for a reason.

As far as Kuss and the weather peeps go, this seems to be a rising trend which is not limited to CITY by any means. We're seeing an increase in localized weather reporting (largely pointless) and more time spent presenting weather overall. It's nice cheery, vanilla apolitical "news" content that they seem determined to convince us is of great importance.

I hated City news. There was a time when Anne M and company would deliver the news in a shrieking manner. She comes across as very condescending and shrill. This isn't Entertainment Tonight! My aching ears!

I hate Rogers too. Sad shame about the working reporters and crew let out. Local news is dead. Moses sold out years ago to big corp. Once that happens, any entrepreneurial spirit is drained out. Citytv went corporate and downsized itself.

Late on this, but love the comments. Ironically, I used to see the pompous pair, Anne and Laura, pushing their way around the food court/market across from 299 Queen when they were there. Some other observations:
1) Good old Jo-Jo Chintoh: (queue African accent) "The perpetrator, a young black man, was seen fleeing from there .... to .... there" (while standing on the roughest public housing estates).
2) Harold Hosein: (queue Trini accent) "Well, Gawd, the weatha today is perr-fect for your tomatoes"
3) Laryssa Harapyn: I can't read the teleprompter worth sh*t but I am a beautiful amazon.
4) Michael Serrapio: with those oh-so-beautiful eyebrows, why is his departure being counted amongst the "women"?
5) Dina P.: represents a major demographic - old-school dizzy Gina's from Woodbridge (which is where she's from!)
6) Tara Webber: she's actually not bad as a reporter, and they send her to the crappiest assignments (like minus 30 weather last Friday night).

It really isn't even news anymore it's commercials for everything from Disney to the weather man in Arizona showing all the ads behind him so they pay for a free trip to visit their ski resort. And do the charities pay them for all the advertising they do for them and what about the Leafs and Raptors, 15 minutes each day on "NEWS". I support the chariries 100% but over loading the newscasts with this is too much. I just go online now and read/see what I want, I can make the management/producer decisions. It's sad but it's just a continuous hour long commercial. And "coming up next is" just tell us, stop with this coming up next crap. They must spend 20 minutes of the "news hour" telling us what's coming up. No wonder TV stations are closing and firing people. Just give us NEWS. Like these websites (blogto) we seem to get what we want here but don't see it on TV or newspapers anymore.

Anne Mroczkowski will be joining Leslie Roberts in late April or early May, only on the 6pm show. Roberts will anchor the 11 solo.

Leslie Roberts, what channel/network is he on I thought he was on the radio. I'm so confused it's hard to keep track of where these people are. I did and do like Anne M. and will go wherever she goes she was the best City had and I think it's about time I switched anyway. I want a station that gives us relevant news and enough with the weather clown shows, we need the temperatures tomorrow and the next few days. Not all of this, high pressure moving in moving out high pressure low pressure what a waste of time. I can get it all in one click on weather website.

I cannot believe some of the emails you people send in the foul mouths you people have the bottom line is these reporters went through all their education an dirt jobs to get where they were at. It is very sad to see these people who have worked so hard to get to point Z to be dumped in a manner that displays thanks for nothing, who cares what someone looks like or how old they are they are making a living just like you people with no class or culture. An I thought that Toronto was suppose to be so proud of their mixed backgrounds an races.I am very sorry to see all of these people out of a job. But that's politics an money.

City-tv blew it by cutting their news. No news on weekends? Stations in much smaller news markets are way better managed than the Rogers owned tv station.

What brought City to the forefront many years ago was being every where with their news compared to the static and boring CFTO news. City shook the whole news system to a more upbeat way and got the attention from anyone. Now, it's turning itself off from the news. Wonder if Sun tv could pick up the slack from City?

PS: I still call it The Skydome!

Mayor Miller.....
How dare you tell us there is free speech and that Toronto is a free city? How can you sleep at night and feed us shit about the great Toronto, when in our face .....Bill Blair ( biggest gangster of all ) said that freedom of speech is LIMITED!!!!!!!!!.......Again: Shame on you and all the other of your kind that don't have the Balls to report the truth.
Police ( Goons ) left those cars there on purpose!!!!!!!!......to keep the idiots away from what really matters!!!!!!!!
Police ( goons ) are the once who instigated to violence, they are the once dressed in black, just to be able to blame it on others and justify the 999,999,999.99 $ that was spent to protect some fat bastards that have no clue what really means to try and stay alive when The government is raping us daily with taxes ,laws ,bylaws ,discrimination and intimidation!!!
I personally was asked by a cop " Did you have fun with the cars? "....with a big EVIL SMILE on his face, just because I wear baggy pants doesn't mean I am a vandal, that also shows how shallow the police is and the way they just like to harass and intimidate all of us, all this is done to make sure we have no freedom to say what we think.
Those cars were old garbage that TV stations in Toronto and the police have made a scenario of, just to make us the protesters look bad.
SHAME SHAME SHAME..........I HOPE NOBODY BELIEVES YOUR LIES AND CORRUPTED WAYS.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
YOU ARE ALL A BUNCH OF GANGSTERS AND THE POLICE ARE YOUR ENFORCERS.

I will post this everywhere on the net, hopefully the whole world will see the "freedom" we have in Toronto, Canada ( the friendliest place on earth, LMAO )

Shame on you Miller and your Possy!
Shame on you Harper and your corupt Goverment!
Shame on you Police aka Billion Dollars Gangsters!
Shame on you all that did not come out to the street and see what really happened!
I guess you like being bent over and Violated in your asses.
SHAME ON YOU All!!!!!!!!

If hell does exist you will all end up in it's deepest pits!.....hopefuly.
