Snowing in the Annex in May
Just when I thought it was safe to go out in my flip-flops... along comes a film shoot to mess up the corner of Bathurst & Bloor in the Annex. The piles of cotton batting snow was no problem, but the melting mess outside Honest Ed's was all too convincing for my taste. A friendly crew member says they're filming "Scott Pilgrim vs. The World" and that it'll be in theaters next year.

Also, I recommend that everyone go read the books. They're great, 'n stuff.
Looking forward to the movie too. Hopefully Simon Pegg is in there somewhere too. Maybe I'll catch a glimpse of him too!
there also seemed to be filming at big white house on the north east corner of the park....do you think they rented that house from the owners, and put them in a hotel, or is that house a local house that's rented for such purposes?
They neglected to inform the merchants in the area about the filming and proceeded to block access to their establishments without a permit to do so. This costs merchants $$$ in lost revenue and they still have to pay employees to sit around and do nothing.
but on the subject of lost revnue: the ttc/city of toronto streetcar construction on st. clair west has been going on for YEARS...and the local businesses are def suffering....I don't remember getting any notices about that.
Than you will have a right to complain.
Until than I hope idiots that are bitching about film sets will shut up.
Just a thought, but this movie is likely to have a cult following and I have a feeling it will contribute something to the idea of Toronto as a destination (the city itself, not just the attractions in the city), and people will visit The Annex because they loved the movie so much and they want to visit the world that creator Bryan Lee O'Malley lived in and was inspired by.
This movie will be a good thing for the city. It stinks if there wasn't any notice, but the pylons and fake snow that were there a day before shooting started should have served as a hint and you could have called the City's Film and Television office for details.
And just a bit of bitchiness on my part: If you're going to lose your shirt over less than a day of lost business, you need a new accountant.
