No Pants on the TTC, In Video

It might have been cold and snowy out, but that didn't stop Improv Toronto from organizing the second annual No Pants Subway Ride starting at Queen's Park station. Torontoist has a round-up and photos from inside one of the subway cars and Improv Toronto has posted a video on their YouTube channel which is also embedded below.

Gotta love the reaction from one of the TTC workers at the end of the video who remarks "It's freedom of whatever it's called....so you guys gotta do what you gotta do".

It is an international day not just celebrated here in Toronto. Jan 10 and May 2nd are no pants days, word'em up.

At least the event had a good cause. Like, erm...
So they brought attention to serious social issues like...*cough*...
Well, at least there's the message they're trying to send. Which is...ummm...was there a point to any of this?

I saw a guy's privates 'cause he decided to partake in this with boxers that had one of those... openings? I have no idea what you call. Not fun.

Is there any point to blog comments?

Yes - to share one's opinions with others. Any other questions?

I'm being charged 5 cents for a plastic bag and these people are walking around in thier undercarriage out! Crazy world. In my day we wore pants that had to legs, a zipper, and a button. That's the way it was, and we liked it!

Not everything needs to have a point or a message.
Enjoy life, laugh a little. This made me smile.

I would pay money to see some of these pantsless hipsters standing near a homeless person sleeping on a heating grate.

That Guy on January 12, 2009 at 4:01 PM

I pay money not to see homeless people on grates.

did anyone take off there pants and jacket? :P

I like the NY one where everyone is just reading and not wearing pants. People seem too self aware in this one.

The music made me die laughing!

(I was then reseructed, and wrote this post)

of course people are too self aware in this one. it's toronto, torontonians are notoriously humourless, and it was, like, -14 outside.

I suppose, but I didn't find it funny in the least so I guess that one's lost on me. I guess my point was that, between fluff like this and the daily re-hash of news I've already gotten from radio/newspapers/tv/etc., it just seems like this blog is jumping the shark something fierce.

Ouch. Well, we'd appreciate hearing what you'd like to see more of on this site. Thanks.

p on January 13, 2009 at 12:31 PM

Cheers, Tim. I didn't mean it to be as painful as that.

I'd like to see more truly ground-level stuff. You know, stuff that Now/Eye/Star/Sun/Post/etc. won't touch or aren't aware of.

For example, the Toronto galleries piece was a good one: http://blogto.com/toronto/the_best_new_art_galleries_in_toronto_2008/

Before anyone jumps on me, yes I know that NOW and Eye both have extensive listings in this area, but they don't even mention galleries like galleryDK. The kind of information I find on blogTO is good but if it's original it seems like a hastily put-together post or, as I've mentioned, it's just an abreviated version of information I can get elsewhere. That's a crass generalization but I think it's fair.

I'm pretty sure your writers can find some interesting things to write about in their own neighbourhoods (they do live in TO, don't they?!)

Regardless, good to know you're listening and even though I may not agree with the content, I appreciate the effort.
