Santa in TorontoNaughty or nice, the big man comes tonight. With only one day to Christmas, it might be a little too late to get on Santa's good list, but I'm going to give it a shot and shovel a few driveways this morning - what with our third storm in less than a week!

Love it or hate it, for the past 12 days I've been searching all corners of Toronto for holiday exhibitionism, good or bad and posting a different photo essay documenting the annual make-over. A lot has changed in 12 days, hard to believe I couldn't find a real snowflake or snowman at the start of this series, and here we are with so much snow we don't know what to do with it.

Time to go do some last minute shopping and wrapping... Merry Christmas!

Who knew? ............Santa is a Brother.

I think I like that concept way better.

Another example of a black man trying to act "white". What's this world coming to?

The idea of a black Santa was probably the work of a white person. It's a great way to confirm Caucasian's sense of importance by having "another" trying to mimic them. I'm not buying into it.

I actually didn't even notice his skin colour, just that he was Santa. Good gravy, what does it matter what race he is?? Why can't we all share cultures and have that be ok and not stealing or mimicking?

That's hilarious... when I worked at Big it Up (if you can't tell, a business with Jamaican roots) they had that same black Santa up, and it danced to any music we put on. We had this 'We be Jammin' version with a sort of jingle-bell steel-drum type of calypso.... hilarious :)
