Crazy CityTV Live-Eye Truck is Staying Put.

CityTV Live Eye Truck
Now, we've covered this story left, right and centre for you over the past few weeks, but just when things got suspiciously quiet, there's more.

The CityTV truck on the side of the now CTV/Globemedia/Monopoly-o-Media building is not coming down!

The decision comes after much public pressure to keep the landmark in place and, on the flipside, also after removal proved way more troublesome than expected.

The catch? You guessed it...

If they are going to live with it, new owners want to change the graphics/decals to reflect the new branding. The sides will likely read, "CTV-Globemedia" or something factually similar.

Decisions on how to make it work are going to happen over the next few weeks.

Not sure if the change will go over well, but I think we can all appreciate a little compromise on this one... maybe...

Its in insult to CHUM by rebranding the truck. Its like putting your name on someone else's work. Shame.

Can't they go generic with it? Repaint the truck to say "Toronto: We're Awesome"?

If CHUM didn't want to be insulted, they didn't have to sell their company.

They should really just leave things as they are, I am tired of the big corporations sticking their logos on everything they buy out. May be the CEO of CTV-Globemedia should get a big ass tatoo on his forehead indead.

It will be rebranded with CP24 (so I hear in the newsroom).

Why doesn't it just say "Pulse" (get rid of the "City.")
It's not called "CityPulse" anymore anyway.

Actually, the real insult behind any rebranding is that it's the original CityPulse truck--with the original typewriter-font CityPulse livery. Mounting it here was City's affection gesture t/w where it all started. Ergo, its so-called "outdatedness" is on purpose. It's whole the point of the gesture.

Remember that, folks.

I should clarify. I meant that it would be okay for them to leave the "Pulse" because they wouldn't be promoting another brand, since the CityPulse brand doesn't exist anymore (except for in CP24 which CTV owns.)

Where it all started? That would be 99 Queen EAST

Does not CP24 stand for 'City Pulse 24' - can't they just keep it as it is? Or perhaps stick a 24 in there somewhere?

Rick: you don't get my point. You might as well suggest renaming the Woolworth Building the Foot Locker Building because Woolworth's doesn't exist anymore...

It should not be remained. I still haven't got over the Skydome.

I don't get why it matters. Its not like CTV only bought the building from CHUM and City TV is still operated somewhere else as competition. Since CTV owns CHUM then CityPulse, CP24, CityTV, Much, Bravo, and all associated labels and brands become CTV property.?

I guess its like if a girl starts dating a guy and makes him throw out his half-full box of condoms because she doesnt want to think about who he was with when he opened the box or something. Damn insecurities.

Also, I still call the "Rogers Centre" the Skydome (I admit I might be more accepting if it wer not Rogers). I'm yet to run into anyone who didn't know what I meant when I say SkyDome. Maybe one day when I have kids who never knew of a Skydome I'll have to adapt, but for the time being it isn't a problem.

"The CityTV truck on the side of the now CTV/Globemedia/Monopoly-o-Media building is not coming down! "

Excellent news~! I've been meaning to take a picture of this landmark since the first time I saw it. Sadly though, every time I pass down Queen I'm without my camera. Re: branding [shrug] let's leave it to the guys in Marketing to come up with something creative. It'd be interesting to see how they plan to paint on the new logos though.

Actually, CP24 stands for CablePulse 24.? And b/c of the CRTC decision, Citytv had to be sold off seperately.? CTVgm does not own that name or the 5 Citytv stations (Toronto, Calgary, Vancouver, Edmonton, Winnipeg).? Hence, why all the Citytv logos on the building came down over the last month.

Just watch, the big mural will be painted over....

sources tell me that City will be replaced with Cable, and the CITY-TV will be replaced with CP24, Cable 7 to Cable 24, keeping the original typeset style, etc etc.

They wouldnt dare paint over it! id be pissed if they did. That truck is a toronto landmark and should stay the same because its somewhat of a historical figure. If they do change it, ill be the first one down there with 2 dozen eggs.

How exactly does CP24 go on as a T.O. cable news channel when they don't have the rich resources of Citytv, which will be moving to a new building in about 3 years? Rogers should have gotten CP24 because they are so tightly intertwined. I *can't* *stand* the G.T.A., anyway. F-ing Torontocentric obsessed.

I've been watching City Tv since i was alittle boy. I makes me really sad to see all this happening. I will really miss CityTv. Just another reason why this city sucks even more.

I'm waiting to see when the CN tower will become the "Rogers" Tower. Screw you Rogers, i'm sick of your stupid commercials. Sorry for ranting.
