mesh Conference

The second annual mesh Conference kicks off tomorrow in Toronto at the MaRS Collaboration Centre. The organizers have done a really steller job lining up experts from the social media world such as TechCrunch's Michael Arrington and local fave Amber MacArthur.

One of the more intriguing sessions is something they're calling the 15 seconds of fame. It's a chance for six promising Canadian web companies (like fivelimes) to explain to a packed room of 400 attendees what they're doing and their prospects for success.

Mark McKay has a preview of the conference in the video above.

Wow, that sucked. Thanks for web 2.0 101, this would have been informative if it was taped about a year and a half ago. My mom knows more about new media than this guy.

Isn't that guy from Len?

Turn on the disposal: Mark McKay's vlogcasting shtick is garbage.

Love him or hate him, he's doing more (and better) than the Toronto Sanitation Department.

Mark's video's got an interesting flow and spontaneity once you get into it--he's definitely got talent. The quality of the sound is definitely not 2.0, though.

P.S. Having pondered this more, I think what makes Mr McKay compelling is his "stromboulopoulism"--he's not necessarily telling you much new [if you're "in the know", that is], but he's mediating it to you in a fresh and concise way.
