Dufferin Mall Gets Boothed

Posted by Jenny / November 14, 2006

111406_dufferincourt.jpgOn my way from No Frills at Dufferin (Sufferin) Mall last night, I noticed the property ungoing renovations, has made its food court much swankier with some wooden booths instead of only the previous two and four-seater tables.

And I can tell the old Greek dudes who regularly gather about are looking at the change with cautinonary eyes.

Damn, I can't even call it the "ghetto mall" anymore -- even Gerrard Square is becoming more urban -- guess that label will have to be reserved for The Galleria.

If you haven't already, better add Dufferin Mall to your MySpace friends list, lickety-split. It's the hottest ticket in town.

Correction. Dudes are not Greek, they're clearly Portugese.

I was hopeful that they would have permanently removed their "Dolphin-and-Frog-Eating-Your Garbage" trashcans, the ones with welcoming open mouths, but I discovered they had merely shifted them to another location in the mall.

1. Yeah, I'd always thought that was a weird message to send to the kids: Stuff the garbage in the mouth of wildlife!

2. Dufferin Mall has a myspace = myspace jumping the shark? Or did that happen a loooong time ago?

3. I sat on those new fancy benches this weekend. They're not very comfortable.

Hey, nothing wrong with Dufferin Mall, unless you came expecting Sherway Gardens. I have to comment on the galleria, it is so ghetto, but the link you posted really sucked. Here's something minimally better- http://www.galleriashoppingcentre.com/

It's a great mall - if you're looking for something specific - glad to hear they're making upgrades.

The Galleria, ugh. There should be a contest, the worst mall in Toronto. We could make nominations and vote.

It wouldn't matter if they put golden f'in booths in that killer trans-fat peddling food court, the place would still be ghetto. I was there a few days ago and haven't seen such a collection of moody, pissed off, ignorant, slobby shoppers since my last trip to Oshawa.

I like the Dufferin Mall just for the fact that it's not too big it's got a good variety of stores, etc. & it's looking better with the upgrades. The food court well it's fast good crap but they do have Tim Hortons & the 2nd Cup! As for the Galleria...I don't know why it's still open. Seems to me it's just a hang out for teens & I would only go there if I absolutely had to because it happens to be close by.
