20061008-cobra.jpgI'm not even kidding.

The Toronto Star is reporting that a spitting cobra is loose in the Church St & Weston Rd neighbourhood.

The slithering fugitive has been loose for the past week and a half, snaking its way around a townhouse, which has already caused at least 2 families to be forced out of their homes.

Animal control is trying to lure it into their capturing hands, but the cobra will have none of that. Apparently, it's in dark spaces where it may be snacking on a couple weeks supply of mice. Very nice.

So far, it doesn't look like he'll be getting out of the house to go cruising for Thanksgiving but officials are keeping an eye on the situation.

Maybe he's just waiting for some turkey dinner before he heads on back home. =)

Wow. I was just reading up at emedicine about the dangers of these creatures and was suprised to find out that: often cobras spew venom at the eyes instead of biting, India once listed snake-bites as it's 5th cause of deaths in the nation and that king cobra's can grow to be 5.2 metres long!

SNAKES ON A...townhouse?

Wait, do Church St. and Weston Rd. actually intersect? if so, where?

Well, this response comes months late, but I may as well explain:

This isn't Church as in Church & Wellesley, this is a small street in the Weston neighbourhood, midway between Lawrence Ave W and the 401. I live just down the street from this place.
