Bike Blues

This morning my bike was stolen. My lock was snipped like twine, leaving me 15 minutes to make it from Trinity-Bellwoods to the north end of Queen's Park. Oh, and it had just started to rain.
What a terrible start to a day. My bike (and lover) of over four years, taken from me in the middle of the night.
What's worst is that I am a poor student. Making rent each month is a struggle, I'm thousands of dollars in debt and I manage this finacial balancing act by paying nothing for transit among other things. To all the bike thieves out there, go steal from someone who can afford it. Or better -- don't!

Bikes are a tough to keep for long in the city, which is why I refuse to buy an expensive one. When stolen, it's often not worth the hassle and expense of claiming them on home insurance.
All locks (and even some posts) are vulnerable. The only way to be sure it wont be stolen is to bring it indoors always, and never leave it locked outdoors.
I just found out about a metal registration plating service at U of T..not sure how it works but I'm going tomorrow due to the paranoia of bike theft right now. i have a good solid kryptonite lock, but thieves just keep getting more creative..
sucks about your bike!
