Thousands Gather for AIDS Vigil

Morning Brew: August 18, 2006

Your morning news roundup for Friday, August 18, 2006:

Thousands gathered in Yonge/Dundas Square yesterday for a candlelight vigil to remember those who have died from AIDS. I didn't see them there, but Tanja and Jerrold have got wonderful photos from the event.

Dalton McGuinty has been chosen as Personality of the Year. Rumor has it that his awesome combover pushed up to the top.

You know it's a slow news day when Lauren Harper's canine troubles are on the front page of the Toronto Star website.

I don't particularly care who you vote for, but if you live in the Parkdale-High Park riding, please just go out and vote on the September 14 by-election to replace Gerard Kennedy.

If you're testifying in court, do you need to carry a gun with you to the stand? That's the big question the judicial system and the police force is grappling with now.
