Tasty Thursday s at Nathan Phillips Square Kicks Off Today

Wandering around downtown and looking for great-tasting and highly-affordable lunch? Look no further than Nathan Phillips Square for Scotiabank Tasty Thursdays, which kicks off this afternoon. From the city website:

"Every Thursday from July 13 to August 24, 11 am to 2 pm, a variety of prime Toronto restaurants will be featuring select menu items for five dollars each or less. In addition to the delicious international cuisine, which includes Pad Thai, empanadas, tandoori chicken, jerk chicken and fresh mango salad, each week there will be a free noon hour concert, providing the perfect lunch hour escape."

The lineup of performers is impressive, and the featured restaurants include popular eateries like Bombay Bhel, Las Brisas, and The Real Jerk. Like Fresh Wednesdays, there will be giveaways courtesy of Toronto Water and a $1000 grand prize contest courtesy of Scotiabank.

Cheap food, good music, and free stuff. Can't go wrong.

did somebody say <a href="http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/blogs/sfgate/detail?blogid=3&;entry_id=6963">itty bitty bikini</a>? =) sorry, i know that link isn't related at all, i just had to share.

so because wednesdays and thursdays are definitely days i work out in etobicoke, it looks like i'll be missing the nathan phillips square festivities this summer. but panthea, if you ever miss the channa masala on the thursday, let me know: i've got a small reputation of being pretty handy in the kitchen, and channa just happen to be one of my specialties. =)
