City considers panhandling banYour morning news roundup for Friday, June 30, 2006:

City Council considers a ban on panhandling, because of course, why help solve the problem when you can just make it illegal?

TVO chops Studio 2 and discusses bringing in advertising. Something about ads on TVO just feels wrong; maybe it's the fact that my tax dollars are already paying for it.

If the rising gas prices weren't enough of a deterrent to find new ways to get to work, how about the risk of corrosive materials covering the 401?

"If you are not doing needles and you are not gay, you wouldn't get AIDS probably, that's bottom line." The man who spoke those words is my city councillor. Ouch.

Happy Canada Day folks. See you all on Tuesday!

What is TVO thinking??? Studio 2 is already one of the best public affairs programmes on Canadian TV - slashing it will do nothing good at all.

Advertising on TVO will just make it exactly like the CBC: useful and fun for some things, but full of watereddown US reruns for others.

From the article linked RE: Rob Ford:

"'On council you want to be informed when you open your mouth. You don't want to sound or look stupid, but this man goes out of his way to look and sound like a ignorant hayseed.' - Kyle Rae"

Ummmm, this sums up ALL of council from time to time. Sorry Kyle, I've watched you. You're all a bunch of jackasses.
