Chairs on Shaw

apr2806_chairs.jpgA gathering of chairs has mysteriously appeared on Shaw St. between Queen and Argyle. They're all deliberately placed, curved around the trees in the middle of the street. There's a green marking spray-painted on each of the seats. The marking looks familiar, but I can't quite put my finger on it. Anyone recognize it?

The symbol resembles a 45rpm record adapter snap-in insert. (see link for example)

It's not the nuclear radiation symbol? Except I've never seen it in green before...

So why aren't we throwing a sitting party?

It's got an "isle of man" look to it, no?

although the isle of man goes counter-clockwise...

I saw this piece early in the morning BEFORE some one ripped off these little tags that were attached to each chair. It had information about where each chair was found, when it was found, materials and estimated age. I think they really added to the overall impact, giving a personalized history of the individual chair.
The tags were from "the department of the property of everyone" or something like that. Did anyone get a shot of those?
Overall very cool. I hope we see more of this kind of work to stimulate the tiered masses.
