Poetic Justice for Quick Boys Movers

The Adventures of Accordion Guy in the 21st Century is a great, Toronto-based blog written by Joey deVilla. Recently Joey asked his readers if they knew of a good moving company, or ones to avoid. One reader posted about a bad experience with Quick Boys Moving & Storage.
Nearly a month after the post, a Google search for "Quick Boys" and "movers" shows the comment on deVilla's site as the #2 result. Joey then receives a call, at his work, from an employee at Quick Boys demanding that he remove the comment to his blog, and threatening legal action.
Since then, the story has been reposted as it's own entry at Accordion Guy, and been linked to on blogs across the internet, including the wildly popular Boing Boing. If Quick Boys wanted this story to go away, they went about it entirely the wrong way. Instead of the comment getting removed, the entire story has been published. Now, a search for "Quick Boys" and "movers" on Google reveals 8 out of the first 10 results to discussion about the incident. Only two results point to Quick Boys ads in Yellow Page like directories. Maybe now they'll threaten Google?

I know personally that Quick Boys likes to use intimidation ALOT. As emigrated Iranians they feel that this is an appropriate avenue to take when pursuing something they do not like. For some reason the owners seem to think that the world owes them something. I have seen them take advantage of customers on more than one occasion. Losing personal items then saying they never got them, replacing items they lose etc. Jay did have a bad experience, and it is not the only one that found or will find himself/herself in the same position. Although they claim that all of their movers are experienced, I beg to differ. You will be lucky if you get one that can speak and maybe understand english. Unfortunatley, the lies to both customers and amongst themselves is what will be their downfall along with the intimidation of people! For anyone out there, I advise you to pack and move your own belongings!!!
Hi
My name is Susan, I just read your story. And it sounds really familiar.
I too used this company in August to move. There service was unsatisfactory and nothing like what the advertisemet says.
I too am missing items, and the items I received were all damaged and broken.
The movers are in no way professional, they were very rude.
To make a very long story short did you reveive any type of response from them? I am currently waiting to hear from them regarding the claim I reported. Any advise you could share?
Also I have spoken to many individuals that too have had problems.
Awaiting your response,
Susan
Oh my gawd! Do NOT hire this company. They were supposed to come and move us today and they NEVER showed up. This was after TWO confirmation calls about the date and time. After speaking with someone at the 1-888 number, she informed us that she was working on the situation and would get the company to our place ASAP. She did not return our call. After calling back again, she gave us the drivers cell phone number. No surprise! His cell was OFF. We then called the 1-888 number where the woman guaranteed the work would get done. It is almost 11PM and we have been battling with this company all day. Now there is a man answering the phone and he said, "We don't like to lose customers." Give me a BREAK!
I would NEVER recommend QUICK BOYS to anyone! Very unprofessional.
I agree with other posters. They are a fly by night company. They steal your deposit and RUN AND HIDE!
we have moved with Quick boys moving and we had no problems and they were great and i highly recomend Quick boys moving !great staff friendly and love to work, best price it's worth every penny they charge you.move with them!!!
I must admit that I was surprise by this site!I moved with Quick Boys movers in September and didn't have any problem with them at all..in fact they were nice and handy at all times. They packed and loaded my stuff from a bedroom in Ottawa to a two bedroom in Toronto. The travel time and the prices seemed fine (as they had promised me) and I don't seem to be missing any of my belongings.Another thing is that we didn't have problems communicating with each other. At the end I was happy with my move.
Rachel
Quick Boys was a nightmare. They ruined all of my expensive wood furniture, literally smashed my desks and photographs, stole a 500 dollar chair and two hundred dollar plant. I am still missing many items and they will not return our phone calls. Al came rushing into my place screaming and calling us a piece of shit and was threating us. I called the police and the insurance company and we are currently pursuing legal action. These immigrants obviously do not know about Canadians and how we will have justice. I will let the media know about these people as well.

We just used Quick Boys Moving (Bad name for this company, nothing Quick about it) this past weekend, and if I were you..I'd avoid it like the plague. It was the most horrific move that I've ever made in my life.
They were supposed to be at our place at 9:00 am on Saturday morning and were not. At 9:15am I phoned and the "girl" said they were on their way but the snow (barely a flurry) was holding them up. We called again around 9:40 am. because they hadn't shown up yet. Now the excuse was that they broke down on the DVP. Not once did they pick up the phone and call us to advise us.
Needless to say, after numerous phone calls to them (at least 5-7, I lost count), they finally showed up at 1:30 pm (4.5 hours late). By that time my fiancee and his friend had moved everything except 12 large items from our one bedroom apartment to the loading zone.
It took another 2.5 hours for them to get those 12 items downstairs and loaded on the truck with the other stuff we had already brought down to the loading zone. That was with my fiancee and friend helping, who knows how long if they had been doing everything!
So once on the road, they followed us to the new place. Truck spewing oil and smoke. Luckily our new place was ok for us to use the elevators, even though it was after the specified hours for moving.
I was forced to make payment (trust me, not for the agreed upon amount) before they would let us move anything off the truck. Originally had quoted a price of $69.00/hr, then they were going to reduce it to $60.00 because them being late and all the problems. We ended up paying only $180.00 + GST, and probably shouldn't have even paid that.
After another 2 hours of unloading, scratching, denting and scraping both my furniture and our freshly painted walls, we just told them to "Get out of our house!!". We were tired and it was now 6:30pm, 9.5 hours after they were originally supposed to show up.
Please, for your own sake, do not use this company and tell everyone you know, not to use this company, they will be sorry.
Cheers!
I also used Quick Boy movers and they were a noghtmare. The loaded all my belongings, and would not move the truck unless I gave them $1500. The quote was 80-hr and took 5 hours to load, so even if they were really inefficent at unloading that comes to $800. So I gave them the money, but when it came to settle the account they added all these hidden charges. Total of $56o. They charged me for having to walk up and down the stairs. Owner of the company Mr. Asri and supposed employee Mary Rahi. Don't beleive anything she says. The moving guy Bruce is rude, he's a bully. BEWARE-- Do not use this company.
Holy smoke!!! This is really true. I recently moved (January 09)and used Quick Boy movers. Mind you, this is my first time to use "professional movers". It went faily well except for the unloading part: they expected me to know all about the policy written in their official receipt without giving a copy before hand. After everything was loaded in their truck Bruce asked me to sign the receipt papers without giving me time to read it. They came to my new place, got the truck into unloading position and then stood outside even after the door was unlock for them. Then Bruce told me I need to pay a deposit of $1100. Since I don't have cash so I drove a 5 min drive to the bank and withdrew cash. Only then they started unloading my stuff. After unloading, Bruce showed me the bill: $802.20 for 5.5hrs of moving plus a whole bunch of hidden fees which were supposed to be free based on the confirmation letter that Mary sent me weeks before. And to top it all up, they damaged my furniture. Until now I've been trying to get them to fix it. The way things are going right now, I don't think they will take responsibilities for all the damage they did...FOR YOUR OWN GOOD, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!
I used Quick Boys Moving a few years ago and I also had a terrible experience with them! They sent 3 guys who didn’t know the first thing about moving. They were inexperienced, slower than molasses, ruined some of my expensive furniture, scraped up the wood floors in the house I was moving out of, and over-charged me several hundred dollars. But it got worse. They stored my stuff for a few months. When they came to deliver my things to my new house, before they even unloaded the truck, they told me that I had to pay and sign the contract saying that my things were delivered in good condition. When I told them that was illegal, the guy yelled at the top of his lungs, “IF YOU DON’T SIGN IT IN 5MIN I’ll DRIVE THIS TRUCK AWAY!!” So I had no choice but to sign it. When they unpacked my stuff it was completely damaged from moths, despite their claims that their storage was a pest-controlled environment. The saga continued for months and they became more and more incompetent and threatening so finally I gave up. If you value your furniture, money and peace of mind, don’t use Quick Boys Moving!
