Hop On, Hop Off

Have you been on the Queen streetcar, leisurely looking out the window, and then find yourself craving Chippy's, or a quick drop-in at Rotate This? But you don't, because you just spent $2.50 on your ttc fare, so you stick it out and deny yourself a well-deserved treat...

Well now, the TTC is toying with the idea of "Hop On, Hop Off" transfers, that give you a 2 hour window to get on and off as you please. The TTC is drafting to start it on the St. Clair West line, and if all goes well it would branch out across the city. You can read more here.

I think this idea is long overdue. It'd be great to finally have the freedom to stroll around, and hop on/off within a decent time frame.

Although, I have to say, this leaves me scratching my head about the messy status of the TTC agenda: fares have gone up, there is talk of a strike, the streetcars roll on mysterious schedules, there are plasma-ish information screens (?!)at Yonge/Bloor and we are still groaning at breakdowns and rush hour nightmares. Is there a priority list anywhere? Maybe there should be.

I honestly cannot believe the TTC is thinking of instituting something that is ridiculously USEFUL!! Way to go TTC, you have finally considered your customers for once. This small act of kindness has proven that you do pay attention to what most other cities already provide.
GO TTC!

Although I'll most likely use a metropass still (I use the subway about 25-30 times a week for getting to/from school and work, and thats excluding social use and errands), but this is great and long over-due. It may actually help bring back some of the riders it lost due to raising the fees

Hey, that's like mississauga transit ~_~ ;;

Yeah London Transit has something like that too. highly useful!

The One Week metropass is a great idea, but the hop on hop off transfer is a mistake. What would prevent anybody from selling that transfer within the two hours that it's valid?

really? wouldn't that take too much effort and time, to try and sell it? i don't think i could be bothered.
