Youthful Vengeance

Youthful Vengeance

Youthful Vengeance is more than just a cafe — it's a space for community.

While the Dundas and Ossington area has an assortment of great coffee shops, Youthful Vengeance brings something unique to the area in that it's also an art gallery focused on elevating local independent artists.

Youthful VengeanceThe cafe itself is quite spacious, with limited seating near the entrance so you can sit and work for a while. The gallery is a bit further in, in front of the drink station and cash, so you can take in the featured art while you wait for your order to be prepared.

youthful vengeanceAt Youthful Vengeance, you can get tasty beverages you likely won't find anywhere else in the city.

They serve up a range of delicious teas, many inspired by Korean ingredients. Be sure to try the mint yuzu ginger ($6) and a lychee strawberry hibiscus ($5) — both full of distinct and potent flavours.

youthful vengeanceIf you have a sweet tooth, it would be wise to indulge in their creamy, decadent hot chocolate ($4.50), topped with marshmallow, whip cream, chocolate sauce, cocoa powder, and ginger cookie crumble.

youthful vengeanceTheir coffee is high-quality and brewed to perfection, using Autralian-influenced techniques for brewing. You'll always have something new to try here since they rotate the beans they use each week.

They offer the standard fare — Americano ($4), Flat White ($4.50), Misto ($4.25), as well as some more specialized coffee drinks, like their Magic Latte ($4.25), a specialty in Melbourne that is a kind of a double-strength latte.

youthful vengeanceThey also offer a variety of tasty snacks, switching it up depending on the week. A recent menu included spanakopita ($6), matcha granola bar ($4), cookies ($3.25), and maple butter tarts ($3.5).

youthful vengeanceYouthful Vengeance is still a work in progress, and its owner and curator, David Choi, is full of innovative ideas to build the space. The cafe is often open in the evenings, hosting events quite regularly.

They are also planning to have a retail space in the cafe, where you'll be able to purchase items from local artists — everything from prints, to merch, to photos and comic books.

youthful vengeanceThe gallery highlights a range of local artists, as well as global artists, so there will be something special to see anytime you visit.

As an artist himself, Choi saw a gap when it came to finding a space to show and sell your work. Youthful Vengeance is his offering toward a solution, with a mission to promote and elevate indie artists in the city.

youthful vengeanceThe support for the space so far has been strong and with good reason. The city does need more spaces like this, to feature local art and foster a sense of community.

Youthful Vengeance has already been offering great events, including art shows and markets, film screenings, and live music.

While they host plenty of events themselves, the Youthful Vengeance space can also be rented out. It's an ideal spot considering its location and offers a welcoming space.
