CBC saw bruising from cracked rib in Ghomeshi videos

The graphic "evidence" of consensual BDSM that disgraced CBC host Jian Ghomeshi showed his former bosses included images of bruising on a woman he'd dated, apparently caused by a cracked rib, the Toronto Star reports.

Ghomeshi, who was fired several weeks ago after reporters began investing accusations that he had beaten and choked several women he'd dated, maintained that all of the encounters had been consensual for both parties.

On Thursday, October 23, in the days before Ghomeshi's ouster, two CBC executives were invited to meet with Ghomeshi and his lawyers at Denton LLP, ostensibly so Ghomeshi could clear the air about the abuse allegations, the Star reports.

Instead, they were presented with video of a woman Ghomeshi had dated at some point in the past 10 years, with large bruises visible on her body; texts present along with the video on Ghomeshi's phone referred to a "cracked rib."

A source told the Star that after the meeting, the executives realized the problem was "much bigger than we ever thought," and Ghomeshi was put on leave that same day.
