How Do You Define Beauty?

There's no question that it's in the eye of the beholder, but Carlito Dalceggio wants to hear what Toronto's perspective is.

Throughout the week as part of LuminaTO, the artist will be painting a massive 51' x 34' on the outer facade of the Hotel Le Germain, and is calling for inspiration via his blog and by e-mail in the form of any visual, text or video materials.

Where: Hotel Le Germain (30 Mercer Street)
When: Today until June 10, painting at 5pm-12pm

Take a look at a sample of the first day of painting in the video below:

Awesome!! Finally we are doing really cool things in Toronto!

I used to go to Paris, New York or London to experience stuff like this. But now I don't want to leave this city. Toronto is Cool!!!

Toronto is on the verge of becoming a way more dynamic and interesting place than New York, London or Paris. These cities have already peaked. They are getting staid, boring and conservative.

But Toronto is just realizing its creative potential and it is booming.

My husband and I moved here from Paris a year ago and absolutely love the style, energy, vitality and openness of Toronto. Wild horses couldn't drag us back to live in conservative, uptight Paris.

I think there's a lot to be said for the cultural renaissance that seems to be taking place in TO right now. Christopher Hume nailed it in his article in The Star yesterday (http://www.thestar.com/article/220780); the 21st century is all about culture, and Toronto is oozing with it.
