Radar: Peaches, Lunchtime Live, Chair Affair 2011, Nemecene Book Launch, Twilight Motel

MUSIC | Peaches @ The Opera House
Even though Peaches has based out of Berlin for quite a while, she has still been instrumental in putting TO on the global music map! Her unique, enigmatic, and sexually-charged persona is unforgettable, and her DIY work ethic, which finds her producing her own material, and programming her own beats, has been highly influential on many female artists worldwide. Peaches' rise to international fame from slugging it out in small TO bars is old news, but recent collabs with Christina Aguilera, and a placement in Nicolas Cage's "Drive Angry" might be worthy of note. It's hard to imagine that tonight's gig at The Opera House could be anything short of eye-popping and musically memorable.
Opera House (735 Queen Street East) 9PM $33.75

FUNDRAISER | Chair Affair 2011
The Furniture Bank is an organization that recycles "gently used" furniture from the homes of various donors, and redistributes these goods to others, including those in dire economic situations. Tonight's fundraiser at The Steam Whistle Brewery - Chair Affair 2011 - will include a silent auction for some extraordinary chairs that have been transformed into works of art by over thirty Toronto artists and designers. There will be some great appetizers, and as you can imagine, beverages will be served.
The Steam Whistle Brewery (255 Bremner Boulevard) 6PM

LITERATURE | Karen Lefave's "Nemecene" : Book Launch
Karen Lefave launches the first novel in her PSI-fi series, "Nemecene, The Epoch of Redress". Lefave is striving to coin a new term, and perhaps a new genre: PSI-fi stands for "physical, spiritual, and intellectual" fiction. This work takes place far in the future where the Earth battles against a destructive humankind to survive. Admission is free, and signed copies of the novel will be available.
Gladstone Hotel (1214 Queen St West) 6:30PM FREE

MUSIC | "Lunchtime Live"
"Lunchtime Live" is a cool music series that takes place at Yonge-Dundas Square throughout in the Spring and the Fall. It goes down every Wednesday for an hour starting at 12:30pm - a great excuse to get away, and really take a lunch hour that you surely deserve! Today you will groove and get your karma corrected to the sounds of the Toronto Tabla Ensemble. This well-known group is a large ensemble that will be joined by the Chhandam Dance Company for a highly charged performance that will keep you going the rest of the day!
Yonge-Dundas Square 12:30PM FREE
