Fritz Helder and The Phantoms' Thunderpussy Debut

For those staying in the city this long weekend, Sunday night rowdiness doesn't get much more colourful than electro kids Fritz Helder and The Phantoms at the new weekly Thunderpussy. Presented by Pink Mafia, the party at Bovine features Hump Day Bump's DJ Sandy alongside the live show from Helder and Co., who will christen the venue's new glass disco dance floor as the first live band to perform on it.

Cover's only five bucks, but if you still need convincing, how about this? Nelly Furtado, with whom Helder and bandmate Pastel Supernova frequently perform -- this is their last Toronto show before they tour with Mommy Maneater -- big-ups the boyz this way: "They combine the hipster swagger of Peaches, the camp of Scissor Sisters, the anime-fantasy of Jem and the Holograms, and the ego-driven voyeurism of a hot red carpet event. They offer a fully choreographed dance show, casually disguised as an electro-pop show, with a healthy does of fashionista sensibility thrown in for good measure." Stylin'. Fierce (bass), Silk and DJ Hollywood round out the electro mix. Throw in the birthday-week celebrations of Pink Mafia Don Anna Von Frances and a kissing booth (already a Thunderpussy staple feature) and you've got a solid little clambake there, don'tcha?
