• The Oxley at 121 Yorkville Avenue is now open for business offering their own brand of British pub fare.
• Tokyo izakaya chain Nejibee (24 Wellesley Street West) will be open soon serving up grilled Japanese teppanyaki.

UPCOMING EVENTS

• Tickets are on sale as of today (Friday, May 18th) for the next Toronto Underground Market happening Saturday, June 9th at the Evergreen Brick Works (550 Bayview Avenue).
• The Rusholme Park Supper Club hosts Wes Allen's Where the Hell is Belize? on Saturday, May 19th at The Depanneur (1033a College Street). This $40 dinner features Central American staples like fish, coconut milk, plantain and cassava.
• Experience the Tastes and Sounds of Asia on Sunday, May 20th from noon until 9pm at Mel Lastman Square (5100 Yonge Street). This free festival offers live performances and plenty of food.
• The Festival of Chefs continues this weekend at The Cheese Boutique (45 Ripley Avenue) with guests Victor Barry (Splendido) in store on Sunday, May 20th and Albert Ponzo (Le SĂŠlect Bistro) on Monday, May 21st.
• Great Lakes Brewery and Fidel Gastro team up on Monday, May 21st from noon until 4pm for this season's inaugural Brewer's Backyard at Evergreen Brick Works (550 Bayview Avenue).
• The Revue Cinema (400 Roncesvalles Avenue) brings together food and film on May 24th with Tea and Oscar Wilde. The Importance of Being Earnest will be screened at 6:30pm, but stop in early to sample teas and treats from local establishments like Mildred's Temple Kitchen and The Chocolateria.
• Cardinal Rule (5 Roncesvalles Avenue) hosts a Surprise Party! on Friday, May 25th. Opt-in for the midnight draw that promises free drinks, cake and bragging rights for one lucky winner.
• Join hosts Bob Blumer (Food Network) and Roger Mooking (Heat Seekers) for Toronto Taste on Sunday, May 27, 2012 at the Royal Ontario Museum (100 Bloor Street West). This annual event, now in its 22nd year, will feature over 60 chefs and 30 beverage purveyors from across Toronto.
• Rodney's Oyster House (469 King Street West) is still booking seats for their annual Lobster Supper Bash on Tuesday, May 29 at 7pm. Tickets are $70 for this one night celebration for the opening of the St. Lawrence Lobster Fishery.

CHEFS

• Matt Blondin (Acadia), has been appointed executive sous chef at Daisho, one of three Momofuku restaurants recently announced to open in late July. Apparently, Patrick Kriss of Splendido is taking over Acadia's kitchen.
