Toronto location of Pickle Barrel has permanently closed

Another Toronto location of Pickle Barrel has permanently closed just a couple years after we lost our main downtown location of the chain.

If you're not already aware, Pickle Barrel is a family restaurant chain with an expansive menu of comfort food.

Now, their location at Sherway Gardens in Etobicoke has closed for good.

Pickle Barrel was acquired back in 2017 by CARA, which became Recipe Unlimited in 2018. They've operated Swiss Chalet and Harvey's since 1977, and now also oversee brands like Milestones, Kelsey's, Bier Markt, New York Fries and Elephant & Castle.

Toronto's centrally-located Pickle Barrel, previously found at Yonge and Dundas, had been open since the 1980s, but eventually closed down in 2020 with a huge liquidation sale.

Cadillac Fairview confirmed with blogTO that the Pickle Barrel at CF Sherway Gardens is permanently closed as of September 26. They did not comment on why the restaurant closed or what might be taking its place.

There are still locations of Pickle Barrel open in Toronto at Yonge and Eglinton, Yorkdale and Centerpoint Mall, as well as outside the core in North York, Vaughan and Markham.
