Toronto airline has new Willy Wonka-style 'golden' ticket that lets you fly for free
A Toronto-based airline is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year with a chance to win a Willy Wonka-style "golden" ticket that unlocks 20 free flights to any destination the carrier serves.
On Tuesday, Porter Airlines officially launched its "Little Things Blind Boxes," a collection of miniature items inspired by the airline that come with a 1-in-500 chance of finding a rare Golden Porter Pass inside.
The pass is redeemable for 20 free flights to any (yes, any) Porter destination, which is equivalent to 10 round trips. The airline currently serves numerous destinations across Canada, as well as several major U.S. cities, like Los Angeles, Las Vegas, San Francisco, Chicago, Orlando, and New York.
Its international network also includes tropical destinations in Mexico, Costa Rica, and the Caribbean, including Turks and Caicos, Grand Cayman, Jamaica, and Aruba.
Each blind box runs for $30 CAD and contains one of five mini Porter-themed collectible items, including the airline's raccoon mascot (Mr. Porter), a De Havilland Dash 8 -400, an Embraer E195 -E2, a mini drink, and a little luggage.
There are 1,000 of each of the five regular collectibles available, while the Golden Porter Pass is hidden among the boxes (not chocolate bars this time).
The limited-edition collection is available through Porter's website, while supplies last, and shipping of the boxes is expected to begin in late November to early December.
