Adults can now take a luxury 'field trip' to a 90-acre Ontario farm
Remember the sort of sheer, unbridled glee you'd wake up with as a kid when you knew you had a field trip that day? It may not be exclusively relegated to your memory just yet: a new collective in Ontario is offering field trips for grown-ups — no permission slip necessary.
The days of taking a field trip to the Ontario Science Centre may be long behind us, but with what Your Field Trip — a new business based in Rosemont, Ontario — is offering, getting your hair to stand on end by touching a static ball will be the last thing on your mind.
Wellness is the class subject at Your Field Trip, which founders — or, you could say, your teachers for the day — Jessica Grossi and David Kohn tap into through a variety of different activities depending on the theme of your specific field trip.
Situated on a 92-acre farm about two hours outside Toronto, the Your Field Trip property alone is almost enticing enough to encourage a trip. The expanse of land features a converted barn where meditation and yoga classes take place, a lake for swimming and water activities and walking paths for exploring.
During your field trip, you may get the chance to dabble in some sauna time, a dip in the saltwater pool, fitness classes, food-forward programming, or any other wellness-based activities the team can devise: every field trip is different.
Located in Dufferin County, it's also close enough to popular destinations like Thornbury and Collingwood to make a whole weekend of it: sign up for a field trip, book a stay at the June Motel, make a reservation at Down Home and plan to swing by Shelburne's duelling burger shops on your drive home, and you've got yourself a damn-perfect weekend.
Or, of course, you could always go the traditional field trip route and organize a yellow school bus to take you both ways in one day. Points for authenticity.
The whole experience will set you back $175 if you tack on an included lunch (an organic protein burrito and fruit according to the sign-up for the next trip) or $150 without, which will grant you access to the guided field trip activities and amenities to use in your free time, including the pool, sauna, hot tub, lake, sports court and nature trails.
