Toronto Blue Jays expected to be awarded 2029 MLB All-Star Game

It looks like the MLB All-Star Game is coming to Toronto.

The 2027 and 2028 All-Star Games have already been awarded to Chicago and San Francisco, respectively. USA Today's Bob Nightengale is reporting that the Toronto Blue Jays are expected to be awarded the Midsummer Classic in 2029.

"The 2029 All-Star Game is expected to be rewarded to the Toronto Blue Jays," Nightengale wrote in a tweet Friday morning.

While the Chicago Cubs are hosting the 2027 All-Star Game, the 2029 All-Star Game is expected to be awarded to the Toronto Blue Jays, followed by the Baltimore Orioles in 2030. https://t.co/xTrV0zJH1f

Should this come to fruition, it would mark just the second time ever that Toronto has hosted the All-Star event. The first and only time prior came way back in 1991 when SkyDome (now known as Rogers Centre) had just opened.

Seeing Toronto viewed as a potential host comes as little surprise, as Blue Jays president and CEO Mark Shapiro has made several upgrades to Rogers Centre as part of a $400 million multi-year transformation. The transformation first got underway in 2022.

On top of the renovations, the Blue Jays also boast some of the best attendance numbers in all of Major League Baseball. Their average of 40,866 fans in 2026 ranks fourth among all 30 teams, trailing only the LA Dodgers, San Diego Padres, and New York Yankees.
