Toronto Raptors draft much-needed 6-foot-8 forward with first-round pick

The Toronto Raptors have filled a void in their rotation with the 19th overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft.

On Tuesday at Barclays Center in New York City, Toronto selected 6-foot-8 forward Allen Graves from the University of Santa Clara.

Graves was considered one of the most versatile players available in the first round, and, like last year’s pick Collin Murray‑Boyles, is someone who could contribute to the Raptors' rotation right away, especially on the offensive and defensive boards.

The Raptors were the fifth-worst team in the NBA last season in rebounding, averaging only 41.7 per game. They were also out-rebounded in their first-round playoff loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

During his final year with the University of Santa Clara, Graves led the Broncos in points and rebounds, averaging 11.8 points per game and 6.5 rebounds.

AJ Dybantsa went first overall to the Washington Wizards, while University of Kansas guard Darryn Peterson went second to the Utah Jazz. Cameron Boozer, son of NBA veteran Carlos Boozer, went third overall to the Memphis Grizzlies.

The Raptors also hold the 50th overall pick in this year's draft.

While the new picks will head to Toronto to meet with the team and media later this week, their first experience in a Raptors uniform will likely come at the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas next month.
