Toronto Blue Jays lose marathon World Series game that ends close to 3 a.m.
The World Series produced an instant classic on Monday night.
Or should I say Tuesday morning?
The LA Dodgers beat the Toronto Blue Jays 6-5 in Game 3, which took 18 innings to complete. They'll take a 2-1 series lead into Game 4 on Tuesday night.
This game lasted six hours and 39 minutes, making it the second-longest game in World Series history.
The game ended at 11:50 p.m. PDT Monday night in Los Angeles. That was 2:50 a.m. EDT Tuesday morning for fans watching at Rogers Centre in Toronto.
The longest World Series game ever came back in 2018 and also took 18 innings to complete. The 2018 game was longer in terms of real time, lasting seven hours and 20 minutes.
Canadian Freddie Freeman was the hero for LA, hitting a solo home run off Brendon Little in the bottom of the 18th to send the crowd at Dodger Stadium into a frenzy.

Shohei Ohtani also had a game for the ages.
The Dodgers superstar went 4-for-4 with two doubles and two home runs, before being intentionally walked four times as the Blue Jays decided they wanted nothing to do with him. Ohtani also drew another walk late in the game, giving him a ridiculous nine on-base appearances.
Max Scherzer went up against Tyler Glasnow to begin this one. Scherzer wound up pitching four innings, while Glasnow lasted 4.2 As you can imagine, both teams had to go deep into their bullpens.
The Jays called upon eight additional arms in Mason Fluharty, Louis Varland, Seranthony Dominguez, Chris Bassitt, Jeff Hoffman, Braydon Fischer, Eric Lauer, and Brendon Little. The Dodgers, meanwhile, used seven relief pitchers in Anthony Banda, Justin Wrobleski, Blake Treinen, Jack Dreyer, Roki Sasaki, Emmet Sheehan, Clayton Kershaw, Edgardo Henriquez, and Will Klein.
Not only was this a devastating loss for the Blue Jays, but it was made even worse by the fact that George Springer was forced to leave after suffering an injury in an at-bat in the seventh inning.

It remains to be seen as to whether Springer will be in the lineup for Game 4, which is not all too far away given the length of Monday's game. It will be Shane Bieber getting the start for the Jays, while Ohtani will pitch for the Dodgers.
