St. Patrick's Day Parade Toronto

St. Patrick's Day Parade Toronto 2013

The St. Patrick's Day Parade in Toronto might not be the city's biggest — that honour goes to Pride, of course — but if you're looking for an excuse to do some day drinking or leprechaun spotting, it's not the worst way to spend a couple of hours. As with most things "Irish" in Toronto, however, it's best not to expect too much by way authenticity. While the Guinness float is typically pretty fun, the bevy of community groups and floats that quite frankly have no Irish connection dilute the whole affair. But, hey who cares? It's a parade!

Here's the key info for the 2013 edition:

WHERE

The parade departs from St. George and Bloor streets.

WHEN

March 17 at 12:00pm.

ROUTE

The parade begins at St. George and Bloor before heading east towards Yonge and then down to Queen, ending outside City Hall / Nathan Phillips Square. Organizers estimate that the procession will be on the streets for roughly one and a half hours. If you're looking to secure good sight-lines along, it's best to arrive about an hour early.
