11 Hawthorne Ave. Toronto

Toronto home that was featured in a design magazine hits market for $5 million

Just over 20 years ago, 11 Hawthorn Ave. was a classic family home in Toronto's Rosedale neighbourhood. It had four bedrooms and bathrooms and a distinct early 2000s design style.

It sold back in 2004 for $1,387,000, which was 8 per cent over asking.

But a lot can happen in 20 years, and 11 Hawthorn Ave. went from a pretty typical family home to a home worthy of being featured in Style at Home magazine.

The foyer.

While the exterior of the home kept its charming historical curb appeal, the interiors were completely transformed.

The living room.

The living room and dining room are open-concept with lots of character, including a wood-burning fireplace, leaded glass windows and built-in bookcases.

The breakfast nook.

The kitchen is probably one of the more dramatically transformed spaces in the home.

The kitchen.

It went from an all white basic kitchen to one with walnut cabinets, marble countertops, a long island and a butler's pantry.

And while the interiors are definitely magazine worthy, the outdoor space could use a bit more work.

The mudroom that leads to the backyard.

The property is sitting on a 35-by-150-foot lot, so there's so much room for potential.

The backyard.

You could put in a pool, or really go hard on landscaping a dream garden, but as of right now, it's just a lawn.
