Massive new weekend-long festival will take over Toronto's downtown core this week

Toronto is getting a taste of Korea with the inaugural K-Travel Fest: Hello Korea landing at Sankofa Square later this week.

Get ready, Toronto: you no longer need a plane ticket to Korea to experience the country!

This weekend, Sankofa Square will be transformed into a two-day celebration of Korean culture and what the country is best known for: travel, food, beauty, and entertainment, all courtesy of the Korean Tourism Organization.

If you're dreaming of a trip to Korea, here's your chance to explore some of the country's biggest regions; the festival will spotlight destinations including Seoul, Busan, Jeju, Gyeongju, and Jeonju.

Travel experts will be on site to answer your questions and offer special packages, making it easier to plan your next vacation. If you have already booked your getaway to Korea, on the other hand, there's something extra in it for you.

Attendees who bring proof of a round-trip ticket to Korea can receive a bonus gift at the festival, while supplies last.

Food will also be a major part of the weekend. One featured experience is the K-Convenience Store, where visitors can try a "Hangang River Ramyeon" experience inspired by the popular Korean tradition of enjoying instant noodles along Seoul's Hangang River.

How will organizers replicate the experience? You'll just have to attend the event to find out.

K-Travel Fest: Hello Korea will also feature food workshops and the K-Pocha area, offering visitors a chance to explore flavours from different parts of Korea, while the Main Stage will feature a cooking demonstration from Culinary Class Wars 2 competitor chef Song Hoon.

Of course, there's plenty of entertainment planned for the weekend, too. The lineup includes K-Pop cover performances, a Random Play Dance session, Taekwondo demonstrations and a Nanta drum performance.

Looking for an interactive component to the attraction? Attendees can pick up a Travel Card and collect stickers by participating in activities throughout the event, then exchange their completed card for Korea-themed rewards.
