Toronto neighbourhood will be decked out in flowers next month

Toronto is about to be in full bloom just in time for Mother's Day. Fleurs de Villes is bringing back its annual floral showcase to the Bloor-Yorkville neighbourhood starting this May.

Fleurs de Villes FLORA is a five-day celebration of spring, fashion, and artistry. In support of Breast Cancer Canada, the Bloor-Yorkville BIA will transform the neighbourhood into an open-air gallery with over 30 fresh floral installations.

And at the centre of all the magic are the signature floral mannequins. Each one is designed as a one-of-a-kind couture piece made entirely from flowers, according to organizers.

What's new this year?

FLORA is actually a new addition to this year's festivities. Local floral designers will transform flowers into original couture creations, "with each installation showcasing intricate craftsmanship and imaginative design, bringing the spirit of spring to life through larger-than-life displays," shares the BIA.

Though there is a self-guided trail through the neighbourhood, key stops include:

  • FLORA, The Goddess of Spring mannequin at Park Hyatt Toronto
  • Blooming Beehive at The Colonnade
  • Spring Floral Tunnel & Couture in Bloom at Village of Yorkville Park
  • Cirque du Soleil LUZIA Mannequin at Manulife Centre
  • Floral Wheelbarrow at Sassafraz, The Anndore House Canopy Mannequin

And many more. But this opportunity is more than just photo ops; visitors can explore the area while discovering interactive activations, curated pop-ups and plenty of spring-inspired moments along the way.

What else is going on?

Restaurants and coffee shops in Yorkville will roll out floral-themed menus, including signature cocktails and dishes under its featured "Flowers Make Us Happy Hour" experience at participating locations.

These include Sassafraz, Enigma Yorkville, Amal, Sofia, The Oxley, Epos Cafe Couture, Aeset Coffee Shop, Bar Reyna, Dark Horse Espresso Bar, Constantine, and Trattoria Nervosa.

On Saturday, May 9, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., the roaming FLORA models will make their way through the trail wearing elaborate floral headpieces styled by Daniel and Ada from Salon Daniel.

That same weekend, live music will add to the atmosphere. From 1 to 4 p.m. on May 9 and 10, visitors can watch performances at the Village of Yorkville Park, The Colonnade, and the Manulife Centre, with local artists including Ale Nunez, Christ Platt Trio, and Danielle Bassels.

And the fund doesn't end there. Stop by daily floral demonstrations at Felurs de Villes JARDIN inside the Manulife Centre, browse a pop-up flower market on May 9, sample floral-inspired wines near the LCBO, and even create custom floral gifts at a personalization bar

So whether you're looking to plan a Mother's Day outing or a fun way to celebrate spring, this is a lovely option to experience this May.

Yorkville is going to be in full bloom!
