Radar: Leonard Cohen Tribute, We Are Serenades and Christien Summers, ECW Spring Literary Party, and The Tales of Hoffmann

CULTURE | Leonard Cohen Tribute at Massey Hall
Tonight at Massey Hall, Leonard Cohen--one of Canada's cultural treasures--will be honoured. The poet/singer/songwriter will be presented with the Ninth Glenn Gould Prize, and will himself present the City of Toronto Glenn Gould ProtĂŠgĂŠ Prize winner. Various speakers, and an all-star lineup of the country's finest musical performers will pay tribute to Cohen at this great celebration: The Cowboy Junkies, Basia Bulat, James McMurtry, Serena Ryder, Greg Keelor, and others will take the stage. The Right Honourable Adrienne Clarkson is promised to make an appearance, as well.
Massey Hall (Victoria Street) 8:30PM $34.95 - $149.95

MUSIC | We Are Serenades and Christien Summers at The Garrison
We Are Serenades plays The Garrison tonight. This band began as a side project for Adam Olenius and Markus Krunegard; both busy with their own projects, but compelled to work together. Olenius performs with Shout Out Louds, and Krunegard with Laasko. This is a much anticipated collaboration that came to fruition after years of deliberation and preparation, and the result is the 10-song album "Criminal Heaven" picked up by Interscope imprint Cherrytree Records, and released earlier this year. This should be a great show, with Christien Summers opening.
The Garrison (1197 Dundas Street West) 9PM $10

BOOKS & LIT | ECW Spring Literary Party
ECW Press is throwing a Spring literary party tonight at The Sister. ECW Press evolved from a literary journal entitled "Essays on Canadian Writing" which was published in the mid-'70s, and has grown into a strong voice in the North American publishing world with over one-thousand printed titles of fiction, poetry, and non-fiction. Tonight's event will feature readings from authors David Blazer, Heather A. Clark, Joey Comeau, Sky Gilbert, and George Murray.
The Sister (1554 Queen Street West) 7PM FREE
