Radar: Trampoline Hall, Twin Shadow, Dandyhorse Fall Launch Party, Adam Cohen, Snuff Box Live

CULTURE | Trampoline Hall: Daniel Shapiro Curates
Another edition of Trampoline Hall goes down tonight at The Garrison! For those of you who haven't checked this regular event out before, Trampoline Hall is a minor cult phenomenon where a few different speakers (unique to each gathering) are assembled to discuss topics that vary from the eccentric to the ridiculous, occasionally enlightening, and often hilarious. This evening's lineup has been curated by Daniel Shapiro: Mike Goldberg is slated to discuss "getting bad news", Elizabeth Strater will fill us in on the concept of the "fertility talisman", and Phil Bredehoeft's topic is "bicycle law reform".
The Garrison (1197 Dundas Street West) 7:40PM $5

BOOKS & LIT | dandyhorse fall launch party!
It's the launch of the Fall issue of Dandyhorse! Dandyhorse boast its rep as "Toronto's favourite bike book", and they are likely correct. Bob Blumer of The Food Network is guest editor for the first Dandyhorse food issue - could be tasty! Also featured in this issue: a Jack Layton tribute from a cyclist's perspective, a pro cyclist vs. bike courier competition, and plenty more. There will be raffles for two Linus bikes, music provided by DJ Isoceles, and Luxury Bob will also perform.
Parts & Labour (1566 Queen Street West) 8PM PWYC + $7 for the magazine

LECTURE | All About Wild Mushrooms!
There's far more to mushrooms than their existence as that "extra veg" topping on a deluxe pizza. Angela Houpt will deliver an interesting lecture tonight that will give you the fungi 411 you need, whether you are an aspiring chef, or an informed foodie. Promised topics for discussion include wild mushroom identification, locating mushrooms, and a primer on Ontario's varieties. Get to know this "meat of the vegetable world" a little bit better tonight! See the event link for info on reserving a space.
George Brown College Culinary School, Room 112 (300 Adelaide Street East) 6:30PM

MUSIC | Twin Shadow + Diamond Rings @ Mod Club
Twin Shadow returns to TO tonight! Even after a full Spring and Summer of heavy, top-tier US appearances, the man continues on the road, and is slated to drop a new album next year. Twin Shadow's sound hearkens back to the '80s, to be sure, and makes use of many of that era's sonic imprints: synths, pads, and a certain deliberate arty touch that makes you feel this stuff is crafted, and didn't fall together by accident. Compelling lyrics and sincere vocal delivery are also strong assets in Twin Shadow's corner. Diamond Rings opens.
Mod Club (722 College Street) 8PM $15
