Radar: Snow Days, Cosmonaut, Paper Series, Serial Praxis, Purple Hill CD Release Show

ART | Snow Days
Missing the fluffy white stuff? The month of February and the snow-filled days it generously brought us is best enjoyed in retrospect and thanks to Labspace Studio's latest exhibit, we can reflect on its weather while being cozy inside. Snow Days brings together 28 collaborators, with 28 projects, over 28 days of winter. With the opening show tonight, you'll never look upon February so fondly as through the eyes of these artists.
Labspace Studio (2A Pape Avenue), 7pm-midnight Free

FILM | Cosmonaut Opens at The Royal
This film, directed by Susanna Nicchiarelli and selected for the "New Trends in Italian Cinema" section at the 2009 Venice Film Festival, is "the story of an adolescence set against the backdrop of a cultural war between two alternative societies." If you're feeling at all guilty after a debauchery-filled St. Patrick's Day celebration, you are a lover of film, or you are looking for an exciting way to spend your Friday night, Cosmonaut is for you.
The Royal Cinema (608 College Street West), 7pm & 9:15pm Ticket prices may vary

THEATRE | Paper Series
If you haven't heard of Governor General's Literary Award nominee David Yee, here's your chance to experience his artistic manifestation of the stage in his show, Paper SERIES. This theatre production presented by Cahoots Theatre Company explores how we use paper in our everyday life to create, amuse, enlighten and communicate. It previews tonight, and officially opens March 21 with a limited run at Tank House Theatre.
Young Centre for Performing Arts, Tank House Theatre (55 Mill Street, Building #49), 8pm $10-$30

ART | Serial Praxis
Five artists have joined forces for this exhibit titled Serial Praxis, holding its opening reception tonight at Artscape Triangle Gallery. With this show, "each artist approaches the mass-produced object as something to be deconstructed through the production and alteration of multiples." It explores the concept of process through art and is sure to be one of the most innovative art exhibits happening this month in the city.
Artscape Triangle Gallery (38 Abell Street), 7-11pm Free

MUSIC | Purple Hill CD Release Show
Purple Hill is celebrating their fourth album release, Bring on the Macho tonight at The Silver Dollar Room. The buzz alone should be enough to get you there. Eye Weekly's review coined them as, "A jangle friendly four piece that may be Toronto's answer to The Feelies," and American U.K. said, "The music sounds like four grown men re-discovering childish sugar highs while their mum and dad are out." I'm convinced, and you should be too. Other great bands are set to take the stage, including fan favourite, Dora Alexander. What's better than live music on a Friday night?
The Silver Dollar Room (486 Spadina Avenue), 9pm $6
