Radar: Glasser, Images in Motion, Peace Dot Love, Chosen and New Year

FILM I The Toronto Premiere Screening of NEW YEAR
One plus about being Canadian (as hard as it is to pick just one) is how we are quick to show our national pride, especially when it comes to hockey, food and film. Today's story applies to the latter; the anticipated indie film NEW YEAR, which has finally made its way back to the motherland plays tonight at the Royal Cinema. A coming-of-age tale, NEW YEAR follows the lives of teens back in Mississauga for the holidays, and how they must face big egos, breakups and parties with hilarity and a stiff drink.
The Royal Cinema (608 College Street) 8:30pm $10

MUSIC I Glasser w/ Twin Shadow @ The Drake Underground
On the heels of her debut release, Cameron Mesirow, a.k.a. Glasser will be gracing the stage of The Drake Underground tonight. This dream-wave darling produces music that is complex, beautifully haunting and full of sounds from far away places. Opening for this red-haired beauty is Brooklyn's Twin Shadow, recently named one of Time Out New York's most stylish New Yorkers. Go for the delectable music and pick up some bonus style tips along the way.
The Drake Underground (1150 Queen Street West) 8:30pm $13.00 19+

Ever wondered how those incredible stop motion videos are made? You know the ones, you can't help but watch one after the other that lead you to internal happiness like a trail of awesomely cool breadcrumbs. This month's Xchange will feature four artists who are veterans in the stop motion technology, who will deconstruct the process behind the hottest new way to make videos. Come enjoy a feast for your eyes and ask those nagging questions that you've been hiding behind your computer screen.

FASHION I CHOSEN Store Opening
Just in time for your winter wardrobe upgrade, the Chosen Ones monthly vintage pop-up is becoming a permanent fixture on Lower Ossington. CHOSEN, cozily nestled between LAB Consignment and Silver Falls will have an eclectic collection of hand-picked vintage, from boots, to chunky knits and everything in between. But the ladies who started it all know that an opening wouldn't be grand without a proper celebration and so they are throwing open their doors to neighbours, friends and vintage lovers for a wee party tonight.
