Radar: Polaris Prize Live Broadcast, This is Not a Reading Series w/ Joe Pernice, ALTdot Comedy Lounge, Burner Mondays
MUSIC | 2010 Polaris Prize Live Broadcast
We've been talking about it for months, and now the day has finally come. Tonight the winner of the 2010 Polaris Prize is announced and you can watch the broadcast live in The Drake Hotel Lounge. The broadcast will also include performances by all the short listed artists including Broken Social Scene, Tegan & Sara, Caribou, Shad and Owen Pallett. This will be much more fun than following the broadcast over Twitter!
The Drake Hotel, 1150 Queen St W, Free, 8pm
LIT | This is Not a Reading Series with Joe Pernice
Joe Pernice will be at Clinton's tonight, but not part of The Pernice Brothers or Scud Mountain Boys or any of the other indie rock bands he's a part of. He's there as part of This is Not a Reading Series, with his book It Feels So Good When I Stop. He'll be with his acoustic guitar, like always, but don't expect a concert so much as a conversation with Stuart Ross about his writing background and career.
Clintons Tavern, 693 Bloor St W, $5, 8pm
COMEDY | ALTdot Comedy Lounge
Yes it's Monday, and that stinks. Four more days until the next weekend, and by next weekend it will be fall. I know I don't need to remind you of this, so why not shake off the Monday blues with a good belly laugh? The ALTdot Comedy Lounge will be going again tonight as per usual. Nathan Macintosh hosts a night of some of the best stand-up in the city featuring Josh Saltzman, Allison Dore and Geoff Hendry.
Rivoli, 322 Queen St W, PWYC, 9pm
PARTY | Burner Mondays
Monday night is not usually a party night, especially with school resuming, but Andy Pool Hall doesn't care. Burner Magazine and Records are hosting a party featuring the newest and best house, electronica, and dance music DJs, bands and producers around. Tonight features Big Blocks, Paul David and Barletta. If you didn't get enough partying in during TIFF, first off: you have a problem and second off: this is for you.
Andy Pool Hall, 498 College St, 10pm
