Y'allternative Lines - Kickoff Party

Get ready to lasso your way onto the dance floor, girls, gays, theys, and everyone in between! Y'allternative Lines is here for our kickoff party - you won't want to miss this!

Whether you’re a seasoned liner or a curious new dancer, we’d love for you to join us in the joy of line dancing to your favourite divas and musical icons, including Britney Spears, Charli XCX, Rihanna, Chappell Roan, Janelle Monáe, Janet Jackson, THOT SQUAD, and more!

Lessons start at 7:45 p.m. - no prior dance experience is necessary to have a good time! Requests will be taken throughout the evening for those coming with dances already in their pocket.

Note to attendees: this event will include loud music, flash photography, flashing lights, and alcohol for sale at the licensed bar in the space.

FAQs:

Who is this event for? Can I attend if I’m not queer? This dance party is for queer people and their friends. We’d love to have you attend if you’re excited to be in a space that centralizes queer identity and movement.

What if I don't know any line dances? Come out to our event, you’ll leave knowing a couple of new dances, and maybe some new friends, too! Beginner-friendly lessons will be taught all night long, and we’ll share a short setlist of dances prior to the event for those who like to practice.

What should I wear? Line dancing involves lots of movement and therefore we recommend dressing light as you may work up a sweat by the end of the night. We also recommend closed-toe shoes (simply because a wayward bootheel will always win against an uncovered toe!).

I don't care to dance but I want to be in the space, what's here for me? Legion Hall #10 has a fabulous lounge off the dance floor, in the bar area. You’re welcome to come to the event to simply hang.
