Here is a little about each of the performers in the show.
DEMI ELLIS
Demi is Cronadian comedian and a graduate of Stand Up Comedy program From The Second City. Since moving to Toronto in 2014, she's been trying to find a balance between Croation bluntness and Canadian politeness. So far all she’s found is Canadian blunt. Demi is a storyteller and her comedy routine centres around cultural differences between Eastern Europe and Northern America. One day she might stop blazing and become a superstar.
KELLY ZEMMICKIS
Kelly is a Toronto-based / Montreal-born stand-up comic, writer & producer. She began her comedy career as a teenage lighting/sound tech but only started her stand-up career at the tender age of 37! Kelly has since become a regular on the stages of Toronto, Montreal, New York City and recently performed at the Kamlooos Komedy Festival. Her documentary No Responders Left Behind (co-produced with Paradox Pictures), highlights the increasing and troubling health issues of 9/11 first responders and is currently in post-production. Kelly just feels ridiculously lucky that she gets to do all these things.
VERONICA VA VIE
Veronica, has been performing stand up for the past 5 years and has been a crowd favorite. Her content consists of stories relating to weight loss, her experiences growing up West Indian and her name Priscilia and the complexities that come with it. As the Host of Spillin’ the Beans Comedy, she enjoys meeting new and pro comedians alike and hopes to continue hosting well into her 80’s.
SALMA HINDY
With her fast rise to comedy, Salma has opened for Ken Jeong, Maz Jobrani, performed with Ramy Youssef, Reggie Watts, Bassem Youssef, Maysoon Zayid and many Others. Salma has performed at the Women in Comedy Festival in Boston, the Stand Up Round Up Fest in Dallas, the Chicago Women Funny Fest and the New York Arab American Comedy Festival. Salma has recently given a Tedx talk and has been featured on Refinery29, CBC, Globe and Mail, CityNews and in various magazines and podcasts. Salma finished 2nd place in the Toronto Comedy Brawl competition with over 400 comedians. She was nominated for Muslim Awards for Excellence "Artist of the Year" and the Notable Award “Stand Up Comedian Of the Year”. Salma was on tour with renowned Muslim comedians as part of a Super Muslim Comedy Tour in the UK and Australia. She just got back from LA. The only terrorism Salma partakes in is shooting down stereotypes on stage.
