Biography

------------------

Connor Newton is a freelance saxophonist currently located in Toronto, Ontario. Growing up in the small city of North Battleford, Saskatchewan, Connor started playing at a very young age. After graduating high school, he moved to Edmonton, Alberta to study Saxophone Performance at Grant MacEwan University for two years. There he studied with Kent Sangster, and Jerrold Dubyk. After two years in Edmonton, he made the move out East to Toronto to begin finishing his Bachelor of Jazz Performance from the University of Toronto. There, Connor had the opportunity to perform regularly with the University of Toronto Jazz Orchestra, as well as study with Canadian tenor man, Mike Murley.

Connor performs around Toronto and Saskatchewan with his own groups as well as being a sideman for other groups. Influenced heavily by Dexter Gordon, John Coltrane and Arnett Cobb, Connor is excited to bring his greasy brand of swing to Let's Be Frank.
