It has been far too long since one of my favourite bands in Toronto The Breaks brought their amazing brand of blues rock to Rancho but on June 6th that ends as they are joined by the awesome psyched out rock of Norway and the debut gig of an exciting new band called Spokeshave! Who doesn't love a debut show? I know I do. Spokeshave while they are making their debut are not a band of green musicians by any means. Several years back I meant front man Matthew Torney when he was in the Big Deal with Vanessa and Dave of Goodnight, Sunrise. You can't keep a good musician down forever and now he is back with a new act. The band has a rock n roll sound soaked with a Tragically Hipesque Canadiana.

Three piece psyched out indie-rock/indie-pop songs it seems like just yesterday when Norway was brand new and playing some of their debut gigs with TWM. Now they've garnered a nice fan base and some strong respect around the local music scene. They take what is essentially a straight up old school rock sound and make it their very own.

It has been sometime now since the Breaks hit the stage at the Ranch! In the meantime we have done some great shows elsewhere together and the band has experienced great success on the radio charts. Later this summer the Breaks tour from Toronto as far as St. John's Newfoundland. Easily one of the best live bands in the city come out and experience the Breaks version of blues rock recommended pairing all of the whiskey.
