The image shared by PopCrave included a yellow harness with purple lettering saying “Tubi” — the brand’s signature color palette — as well as a tank top that says “Proud Tubi Gay” and basketball shorts that say “Free.”

That’s not all that’s in their cheeky Pride line, either. Per their merch website, the collection includes a shirt that says, “I Got My A$$ Ate While Watching a Tubi Original,” a shirt that reads “You Can Watch For Free” and a “Proud Tubi Gay” baseball cap. There is also — because of course there is — a purple jockstrap that says “FREE” on the waistband.

Social media users are loving the brand’s fresh, fun take on LGBTQ+ Pride merch at a time when many companies are forswearing the holiday altogether.

“They need to give these to the people who’ve actually watched countless terrible low budget gay movies on Tubi, some of us have been in the trenches,” one person wrote on X. official website https://www.bonfire.com/tubi-pride-merchandise/

Many pleaded with Tubi for more merch. “How is anyone going to be able to get merch if everything is sold out i really wanted the you can watch for free shirt @tubi,” another person wrote.

The merch was made by Cole Poska, who goes by the handle @SpaceboyCole on social media. Poska has designed merch for Tubi before. In an Instagram post issued last week, he previewed the collection, alongside the caption:

“@tubi came back for seconds, and this time they let me design their Pride merch! the Proud Tubi Gay collection launches today at 1PM EST on ProudTubiGay.com,” he wrote. “And as always, it’s all free! More surprises are coming June 23 👀 Grab them while you can, because you.”

Poska followed up with a second post on Tuesday announcing a second drop of official merch that opened that same day and apparently sold out within minutes.

“Made it to the last part of filling out my info THREE TIMES before the harness was snatched away from my cart each time,” one person wrote.

“You know the merch is good when the checkout process gave Ticketmaster war,” another wrote.

Tubi’s pride merch reflects the brand’s overall tongue-in-cheek social media presence and brand identity, including tweeting out a picture of Tiffany “New York” Pollard wearing a Knicks Hat to comment on the fourth game in the NBA finals or its constant (friendly) reminders that, as a completely free service, it is the people’s princess of streaming services.

Tubi’s tongue-in-cheek merch stands out at a time when, due to political backlash, many brands have abandoned their LGBTQ+ Pride affiliations. Of course, many brands, such as Levi’s and REI — and, of course, Tubi — have not caved to political pressure and continue to create LGBTQ+ collections.

But it also sticks out because Tubi clearly knows its audience. Known for having a vast library, Tubi boasts an incredibly extensive list of LGBTQ+ titles, as well, with it being a storehouse for many queer and trans indie films that are not widely available. For example, one Letterboxd list of all the queer films currently on Tubi goes on for 9 full pages, with around 100 entries per page.
