Toronto’s Largest Trinidad & Tobago Food and Music Festival Returns for its Second Year

Over 20,000 visitors are expected at Yonge-Dundas Square for the 2nd annual Trinbago Festival on August 26th and 27th

After bursting on to the Toronto summer festival scene in 2022 with an extraordinary 18,000 visitors, the Trinbago Festival is back for its second year on Saturday, August 26 and Sunday, August 27, 2023, at Yonge-Dundas Square. Expect more of everything; a wider selection of Caribbean cuisine, a new Carib Beer Garden, and the pulsating rhythm of soca music. Immerse yourself in the rich culture of Trinidad and Tobago and experience a vibe like no other in the heart of downtown Toronto.

In addition to its legacy partners, Trinidad Tourism Ltd and Tobago Tourism Agency Ltd, the Trinbago Festival is excited to announce new partnerships with Caribbean Airlines Limited (CAL) and the National Carnival Commission of Trinidad and Tobago. On August 26, 2023, CAL, the leading airline serving the Caribbean region, will launch its highly anticipated Welcome Home campaign as part of the festival. This will include special headline performances by top artists from the Caribbean: soca powerhouses Nadia Batson and Farmer Nappy; calypso legend David Rudder; chutney soca star KI; and dancehall singer/DJ Agent Sasco. They will be supported by a cast of electrifying local talent, giving you the best in calypso, soca, tassa, cultural dances, steelpan music, alongside Canada’s hottest Soca DJ line up, which features DJ Steph Honey, DJ Maseo, DJ DOC and D’Enforcas.

The National Carnival Commission will also be curating a special cultural segment on both days to give visitors an authentic taste of Trinidad and Tobago Carnival, which is the mother of all Caribbean Carnivals and is popularly known as "The Greatest Show on Earth".

The Acting Consul General of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, Tracey Ramsubagh-Mannette, says, “Against the backdrop of the iconic Yonge-Dundas Square, the Trinbago Festival will celebrate us as Trinbagonians and bring us together to showcase our people’s warmth and ingenuity, as well as the vibrancy of our cultural expressions. At its core, this event is really a big ‘thank you’ to our citizens that have distinguished themselves in every possible field of endeavour and who fly our flag high every day. With the help of our partners, we aim to encourage Trinbagonians and both old and new friends to ‘come home’ for an authentic Trinidad and Tobago experience.”

For the final touch of magic, don't forget to watch out for special illuminations by the CN Tower and Toronto sign in Trinidad and Tobago's national colours on August 26, 2023 in honour of the Festival!
