GUN VIOLENCE | POLICING | RACIAL POLITICS | GANGS & YOUTH

Show Dates: September 6 - 7 - 8 - 9 @ 7pm (doors at 6)

Sunday, Sept 9th Matinee @ 2pm w/ Q&A Discussion Panel after show

Synopsis: Accusations of racial profiling are levelled against a Toronto police officer after she arrests a black man for illegal firearm possession. When top Crown attorney Thomas Matthews is assigned to prosecute the accused against a left-leaning white attorney, tensions mount and personal politics bubble to the surface. From an ostensibly routine traffic stop, each character must come to terms with the city’s racial politics and how they have shaped their own beliefs and prejudices.

Toronto The Good was written by actor/playwright/director Andrew Moodie in response to the rise of gun crime and the 2005 Year of the Gun era. Producers Gloria Gift Nankunda and Chad Tailor have made it their mission to bring this story to the stage once again to bring about a discussion about the issues in our city, and how we as individuals can help towards a solution. It was originally performed in 2009 at the Factory Theatre Toronto and has been revised with current political settings.
