TBFF was launched in February 2013 by President/Founder, Fabienne Colas and GLOBAL Toronto. It is a sister festival to Montreal International Black Film Festival (MIBFF).

The festival will screen a vast selection of films representing storylines about Black people from various countries around the globe including films from Nigeria’s growing film industry.

TBFF is the first film festival to feature Nollywood films as part of their regular programming.

We are devoted to celebrating the cinematic work of Black filmmakers and talent, and dedicated to providing the opportunity for filmmakers from all ethnic groups to share and promote authentic stories that reflect the true reality of Black people around the world.
