As the driving force behind ensembles like the Yansi Alexavier Quartet and the Souls of Black Folk collective, he creates music that honors Black musical traditions while exploring new sonic territory. His performances—whether on local stages or at jam sessions in NYC and Philly—radiate warmth, intention, and a deep sense of community.
