Celebrating 25 years of being Canada’s premier design showcase, the globally renowned event will take place on January 18 - 21, 2024 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, making its much anticipated return to the North Building.

Presented by Miele, IDS Toronto will not only commemorate its rich history but also set the stage for what lies ahead in the dynamic world of interior design. This landmark event promises to be an inspiring showcase of cutting-edge concepts, transformative trends, and visionary designs, as it explores the limitless possibilities of the future of design. Join us in celebrating 25 years of design excellence and in envisioning a bold and innovative path forward for the industry.

Highlights:

Future Neighbourhood

This January at IDS, take a walk through the Future Neighbourhood. This new, immersive feature is designed to inspire, delight, and stimulate conversation about good design. Six design teams - including Interior Architects (IA), Noam Hazan, Safoura Zahedi, SDI Design with Q4 Architects, SVN, and Syllable Design - explore how interior design will continue to adapt to and shape our lives. The inspiration for this feature is the city of Toronto, which is made up of distinct neighbourhoods. Visitors will walk down a central street in the Future Neighbourhood, then enter each installation, experiencing design solutions to problems including the housing crisis; the ever-evolving crossover of work and living spaces; ageing in place; and the introduction of technology into different interiors.

LIV Design Studio’s 2024 Student Design Challenge

LIV Design Studio’s 2024 Student Design Challenge, titled The Art of Outdoor Living, aims to bring attention to up-and-coming interior designers from across Canada by providing an opportunity for students to present their work in AR to the interior design community in Toronto and beyond. For this year’s challenge, students are asked to design a 188 square foot outdoor patio space that can be replicated in a multi-residential context. Three finalists will be chosen by a panel of expert judges to have their designs rendered into hyper-realistic 3D models by LIV Design Studio’s in-house CG team. These will then be viewable through dedicated augmented-reality portals at IDS Toronto 2024, where attendees will be able to interact with and vote for their favourite design.

Studio North & Prototype

Ever-popular Studio North and Prototype offer the country’s best glimpse at the stars of tomorrow. In Studio North a group of independent product designers exhibit their custom and one-off creations (including furniture and lighting, glass and ceramics, textiles and décor objects) within a gallery-like setting, while Prototype lets designers unveil innovative and avantgarde pieces that often experiment with cutting-edge materials and techniques.

The District

Shop the show at this bustling neighbourhood that features fresh collections of design products for the home. It is the marketplace for designers to show and sell to discerning consumers and industry insiders.
