The Colours and Soul of Korea: Dancheong

To mark the closing year of the Canada–Korea Year of Cultural Exchange (2024–2025), The Colours and Soul of Korea: Dancheong brings the beauty and depth of traditional Korean art to Toronto. Co-hosted by OIS ART OF CANADA and MOOWOOSOO Gallery, this landmark exhibition explores the rich heritage of “Dancheong” - a traditional Korean decorative painting technique used in temples and palaces.

More than just ornamentation, Dancheong carries deep symbolic meaning and reflects Korean aesthetics, spirituality, and architecture. The exhibition features contemporary artworks inspired by Dancheong motifs, collaborative pieces that blend traditional and abstract styles, original tools and pigments, and video presentations of the painting process.

Opening reception on Friday, June 6 from 5pm to 8pm, featuring a lecture by a Dancheong expert and a traditional Korean music performance.
